Do you think we will, or might go to war with North Korea? As much as I feel that Saddam was a threat, I really think that North Korea is worse of a threat. I feel they are the ones with WMD, and could go off on us at anytime, and we wouldn't know. Do you think North Korea is more of a threat too?

Our history with Korea, and China's close alliance with them (they were discussing the situation yesterday over a presidential dinner. "Presidential") will mean that we're going to seek a much more diplomatic end to this situation. We're putting on worldwide pressure, or so we're attempting, from Japan, South Korea, the United States, and Russia. Whether that will be enough to get Korea away from the red button -- we'll have to wait and see.

Last I heard we had cut off aid to North Korea. Maybe I'm wrong, though.

There's no doubt that North Korea is a much bigger threat than Iraq was, and we went to war with them. North Korea announced yesterday that it has obtained enough plutonium to make six nuclear bombs that are capable of reaching the west coast of the United States, and the majority of the population is Anti-American. Two months ago, Bush said that a nuclear-armed North Korea "would not be tolerated". This would obviously lead us to believe that the Bush will declare war on North Korea. However, as he is now focusing on re-election, if he does declare war on North Korea, he will probably do it after he is re-elected (assuming that he will be).

"Despite the effort to play down the news β Mr. Bush's aides have refused to call the Korea situation a "crisis," fearing that would play into Mr. Kim's strategy β there is a debate in the administration about North Korea's intentions."

Korea is possibly the largest threat to the US at this time. And, guess what folks? This is greatly the fault of Bush. lol.
Mr. "anti-terrorism" and "upholding UN resolutions" was the one that completely let them start building WMD against US resolutions, while he went and ganged up on a less dangerous country for exactly the same thing.
Now, while I wasn't a big fan of Clinton, he did at least keep up on the Korean threat, but Bush completely dropped it once he got into office.
And now, Korea is 4 times the threat they were a few years ago. @_o' It's pretty scary.
------------------------
Here's how Bush has been handling the Korean threat during his big "get Iraq" show. It just goes to show you where his priorities for "protecting the US" really are.
Too bad Korea didn't have oil. -_-'
(If you don't want to read any of this, at least read the last quote. It sums it up the best.)
-------------------------
"U.S. shrugs off North Korean threat": http://www.johnworldpeace.com/e030207c.htm
"The United States says it is ready for any contingency after North Korea issued threats of pre-emptive attack and suggested it was poised to restart an atomic reactor central to its suspected drive for nuclear arms."
"Reckless and arrogant moves of the U.S. imperialists to stifle the DPRK (North Korea) prompt the KPA... to wage a life-and-death battle with the U.S.," said the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) about anti-U.S. rallies by the army."
-----
"US plays down N Korean threat," BBC News: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/2776841.stm
"Tensions on the peninsula have risen dramatically since North Korea revived its nuclear program late last year and then last month announced it was pulling out of the nuclear non-proliferation treaty (NPT)."
"The US will not respond to threats, broken commitments or blackmail by North Korea," he said." (Yet we'll go to war with Iraq over the exact same issues? I wonder why that is.)

Arms Control Today
"Preserving the North Korean Threat": http://www.armscontrol.org/act/2001_04/focus.asp
Spurgeon M. Keeny, Jr.
βIn deciding not to continue the Clinton administration's efforts to curb the North Korean ballistic missile program, President George W. Bush has gratuitously rejected a promising opportunity to improve U.S. security. In fact, the decision is so irrationally contrary to U.S. security interests that it is widely perceived internationally as intended to preserve, and even enhance, the North Korean ballistic missile threat so that it can serve as the rationale for early deployment of a national missile defense (NMD). This devastating assessment of U.S. motivation will only be refuted if the Bush administration's promised review of its North Korea policy leads to a prompt resumption of the deferred negotiations to stop Pyongyang's development and export of ballistic missiles.β

You mean North Korea is planning to invade your country because you have a few weapons of self-defense?

What are you talking about?
All I'm sayin is that Iraq was something needed to be taken care of, but North Korea is the place with WMD! They even said it! They're even building the shit now! We need to take care of that problem. They are a much bigger threat than Iraq, though, like I said, Iraq was something that needed to be taken care of anyways.

America has over 2600 nuclear warheads. North KorEa does have a nuclear program but it is unclear whether they have developped warheads or not yet.
WHO HAS THE WMD?

War does seem closer now. http://story.news.yahoo.com/fc...p;in=World&cat=North_Korea . I actualy expect a war with them. If I am not mistaken the illuminatie (spelling?) planed such a war a long time ago as part of a new world war. They planed WW3. I am waiting to see if my source is correct on this, but I have seen my source correct on other things. But if korea gets into it the U.S. will too no doubt. We will have to wait and see.

Yeah...sad really. The most Iraq could've had was bio/chem weapons.
Anyway USA has the most WMDs of all countries (thousands), so yeah.

No. We are NOT the ones threatening others with "ours". We are simply ready to protect ourselves if those morons (N. Korea) were to try and start shit with us.

you are all forgetting a big factor in this...
the PRESIDENT IS RUNNING FOR RE-ELECTION.... you dont fight a war while running for president when the last two countries you fought are not democratized and the body bags keep coming home albiet slowly, and the economy is bad...
karl rove and company are far too smart for that...

WMDs are purely deterrents. They aren't likely to ever be used by anyone.

I like how some posts, which can be stated in a professional manner and gain a lot of interest from other readers, are somehow destroyed by the people posting them. Calling the mass of North Korea morons isn't a great move, and yes, I agree it would be "starting shit" if they used a nuclear weapon on any of our allies. Meh.

I don't see any info on going to war on the official North Korean Gov't. Site, but the site is full of lies anyways. http://korea-dpr.com . I'm surprised its even official, since it was made in Madrid, Spain.
I don't think even 3/4 of the people there have resources to go to this site...it's all Kim's fault. And it's in English too...not Korean...and there are UK links.

North Korea's state media kept up a stream of alarmist statements on Friday after a senior diplomat told British reporters in Pyongyang that "pre-emptive attacks are not the exclusive right of the U.S."

The whole North Korea issue will fizzle out as soon as a democrat is in office and exchanges aid for abolishing weapons programs. Then a republican will get in office, cancel the aid, the weapons program will continue and we'll have tension again.
That's what I predict will happen from 1980 to 2003...
OHH WAIT, that already happened. Okay what I mean is it will happen from 2003 to forever.
*sigh* North Korea doesn't have a website for its government so please stop posting your propaganda in here.

North Korea has a website. Mike Bakshi and I were discussing it and how it touts the Juche Idea as law. Well, I guess it IS a law over there.
God, I hope you're not reffering to this geocitie-worthy website that is supposed to be a government website that offers practically no information about the country, has every laguage available but Korean, was built in Spain, starts in http and not www and ends in .com and not .gov?
http://korea-dpr.com/ ?
