Gurren Lagann

I was wondering if any NGers watched an anime called Gurren Lagann. It's fairly new, having premiered on April 1st of this year, and containing 27 episodes so far. It is animated by studio Gainax, the people responsible for FLCL and Evangelion. I've never really liked mecha based anime, but I love this series.

It's basically a mecha anime, with wonderful characters, exciting plot-twists, and kickass battle sequences. If you'd like more information, wiki is your friend. Otherwise, just youtube the first episode.

I don't so much enjoy Anime. I've tried watching it and enjoying it but the art style just seems so... lazy and cliche.

This is again subjective. Lower budget anime tend to have lazy animation, but some, such as Gurren Lagann, have varied and completely.... un-lazy... animation.

I don't watch anime anymore but I did start watching the collection of Gurren Lagann on Netflix instant, I like the style, and it kind of seemed like it had a lot in common stylistically with FLCL. I may pick back up on it, maybe not.

Simon was only a whiny b***h for like three or so episodes; afterwards he's nearly as much a bad-a** as Kamina was. You just gotta be patient. And if you want to see unnecessary Fan Service go see an anime called Needless. The fan service there is both grossly overabundant and immensely inappropriate (considering the girls' ages XP).

I like this anime alot but I never knew it was by the people that made FLFC.

I was bummed when Kamina died so early on. He was too strong of a character to have that happen to.
