yet all the major newspapers today could focus on was how much weight brittney gained and how vacant she looked during her half-a-performance... i didn't watch the VMAs (and no one sitting next to me did either) but i find it interesting reading about them the next day. u can tell who is on whose payroll for what the lead story on the VMAs is. there are the honest reviewers (like you?) that take in the overall picture of the scene, and then the yelow journalists who play up the shocking stories! "brittney's baby fat back backed up!" or some such... did she looke stoned? yeah.
is she the first person to perform at the VMAs stoned? yeah, right.
with people like kurt cobain and marilyn manson in attendance year-to-year, every drug imaginable is represented. who cares about baby fat?

I tried to watch the Justin Timberlake, highly promoted HBO special, and couldn't set through more than a few minutes at a time.

i didn't watch the vma's but i've heard enough to know what happened. Years ago i hated Justin just as much as Tom used to. But now you just can't hate that guy, there's no use in trying. I mean he works hard and keeps his nose clean, not to mention his latest songs are incredible catchy. Brittney is a whole different ball game though. Sounds mean, but i'm glad she failed. She failed from lack of effort. Brittney doesn't have the raw talent most artist have, she was prepackaged. She made really bad choices and just doesn't seem to care anymore. she seems to be under the impression that if you call it a comeback then people will just start listening again. that's not true comebacks are earned and she's wasting hers. you only get one comeback! I mean her hair wasn't even done for the vma's!
