It's simple. More people equals more crowded. Sure, they could fit. Do we want to fit them in? As the current citizens of this country we should have the right to decide if we want more people to come in or not(although it is directly decided by elected officials). Other countries do it so why is it an issue when we do? We do have a lot of immigrants and some think too many. I, for one, do not want the USA to become too crowded and if we placed no restrictions it would become more crowded. Perhaps it is partly because I live in the most densely populated state in the USA but it is a prime place that people immigrate to, therefore it becomes even more densely populated over time. Then you have to start cutting down trees and building houses or condos where forests used to be. This does actually happen and it happens all the time.

I was accepted into the PC a while back, but I don't post there. I do enough posting here for my tastes. ^_- lol.

Hmmm. In fact, I really should get on that. After I was accepted, I never really did anything about it. Not enough time.

Ninja, you're not a member.

Someone may have told you that you were accepted, but there was a big debacle at the time over quorums and voting rules, so the matter was taken up by the PSCM where your acceptance was voted down.

This is exactly the reason why the Political Crew is such an inspiration to us all. They really set an example for pro-active, long winded, intelligent, TOTALLY worthwhile debates that are both topical and relevant.

Ninja_Scientist, that was a nation-wide poll, not one exclusive to California. If tehre are too many people in California let's ship the immigrants in Vermont or New Mexico but people nation-wide agreed to present the middle finger to immigrants.

Everyone, this isn't the god-damned PC regular's lounge. k? thanks.:)

Hmmmm. Well, the PC member that tried to get me in wrote said that I was accepted by the PSCM.

Oh, well. lol.

I know. I was talking about the nation-wide issue previously as well. ^_^ I just threw the Cali thing in later cause it's also relative to the "what's right for a particular place now regardless of history" point.

PS. Wait a minute. I'd thought you'd think that that would be against "immigrant rights" or "hypocritical."

What's your logic on the difference between "immigrant rights" and the "US history clause" statewide versus nationwide? Just wondering.

So I'm still a bit unclear here, is Ninja eligible for re-entry into the Politics Crew now, or is she already a member? And does she have pictures?

Back to the original topic! (seriously, you PC people should post your problems on your forums, not an immigration thread.)

Ninja_scientist, do you realize that only California is facing an overpopulation crsis?

Ahem...NJ is more densely populated than California. We don't need it to become more densely populated by any means. The USA isn't facing any overpopulation crisis but we don't necessarily want a few million extra people. What reason do we have to want to let more immigrants in?

To show that we have compassion for all people, even if we bomb them when they disagree with us, threaten trade embargoes when they speak their mind in the United Nations, and generally screw over anyone who dare oppose the greatest nation known to man.

I have only read through half of the first page, so yeah.

There has always been immigration laws, at times it was more loose, and at times it has been strict as anything.

Mexicans i feel are hard workers. They try to make a good living. Many times i feel these mexicans are messing with our white collar jobs. They want to get less than minimum wage to do the same job anyone else would want $7 an hour for, and when the mexicans get paid, its under the table. This pisses me off in two ways

1) The rich get richer, the poor get poorer. With decreased labor costs, the owner can now get his Z4 he has been wanting.

2A) The government doesnt get money for them because it is under the table. That many would've went towards social security. If the mexicans lived in the US for a certain amount of time, even if they didn't pay a dime to uncle sam, they can collect social security.
