I don't know what you're talking about, but if you find The Daily Show to be more reliable than an actual calbe news network, you've little business trying to convince everyone to abandon CNN and listen to Jon Stewart as gospel.

Still, to look to The Daily Show for anything except mindless satire and the occasional Lewis Black cameo...it's foolish. The show isn't even as good as it used to be.

I never found the Daily Shows satire on current international events funny. What I do find funny is the mock consumer reports and all of those kind of things. Never quite got that momnet of zen thing neither.

It was better when Craig Kilborn was on.

lol. Actually, the daily show isn't that bad. Why? They don't have to lie for ratings because the truth is funny enough. Heh heh.
They show a lot of funny clips of Iraqis "hating" the American soldiers there. Which Fox and such rarely ever show, because it's "bad publicity." So, while I wouldn't use it as my main source of news, I don't think it's half bad. It can't be any worse than Fox and at least your getting a laugh out of it as a bonus. ^_-

PS. In fact, one reason why I feel that they're more reliable sometimes is simply because they aren't pressured to compete with other news stations. Don't get me wrong. I believe in Capitalism more or less, but not when it applies to news. Having news itself compete isn't a good idea. Why? Once ratings become the primary goal, the truth begins to get warped in the process of competing with the same news to make it more interesting and get more viewers. Also, when news stations compete, they usually wind up just covering the same issues to "keep up with the others" and a lot of good news is lost that way.

The Daily Show has occasional nuggets of wisdom, but it's nothing to watch as a hard news source. Of course, given some of the debates I've seen on here in the past, I'd assume people are getting their news from The Onion and The Daily Show.

The last thing people should do is get their news from a comedy show and then complain about "infotainment".

Reliable as in they dont lie. Here is the problem however, if you think that the topics they cover are important, in the way that they portray them, its sad. Comparing the show to others is stupid because it presents the information, even if it is true, as half-assed as possible.

Don't underestimate the power of political satire...under all the humor lies some important issues that shows like "The Daily Show" and "This Hour has 22 Minutes" report on. Often times CNN will tell you the bare facts, while these shows tend to reveal the reality of what the government is ruining for us today...

Yes the daily show is very much more reliable because you can actually understand what they are talking about. With all the political correctness these days i can't understand one god dam word they say on CNN or FOX news or any other channel

I watch The Daily Show rather than any other news station and learn quite a bit. The Daily Show should by no means be considered a source of information, but I prefer it because it not only shows (and makes fun of) "important" things, but also makes fun of normal news shows with its totally out of context quotes and unimportant/inappropriate segments. By inappropriate I mean segments that talk aboutbullshit that matters to absolutely noone while the time and work put into these segments could be used to, say, tell us about an escalating situation on the other side of the world that might affect our nation in some way.
If I want the news, I'll scan the newspaper for the important stuff.(usually not on the front page, which is talking about Mr. Bean and some bullshit art or something. But, if I want to see a show made by other people like me (smartasses) making fun of bullshit events, I'll watch the Daily Show.
