Hi, point your nintendo wii browser on over to
www.indestructotank.com/metroid.html
to try out a little side project of mine - a metroid engine in flash for the wii browser.
Controls are as follows DPAD moves/aims 2-Jumps and 1-Shoots. Double Down to become morphball and 1 is bomb while in morph ball state.
All made possible by the glorious MarioToo API (http://www.lastchancemedia.com/mariotoo / )
At the moment its just two rooms connected to one another, but as a final result would like to remake my game Metroid Elements (found here on NG)
What I would like anyone willing to try it out is check for any bugs which can be replicated (i.e. not one offs) with the current design, which i will be updating througout today.
THe game wil currently only run on th wii browser, as there are many PC flash player issues that cause problems, although they will be sorted and the game released also on newgrounds for PC users. Have fun :)

Hi, just an update, its now working for PC flash players, so go nuts, controls are Z and X to jump.shoot and the same as above...

Bullets don't have any boundries. When going through doors they continue offscreen.

Their only boundary is their soul...and a timer that removes them after 30 frames
They fly offscreen because the open doors don't detect their collision yet, i'm getting around to that..

I've just updated the rooms so you can jump around more etc

any suggestions i'd be happy to try out, and also go play metroid elements to see the world i'll be recreating (warning, the game is a bit crap :p)

I played it on the Wii, and it doesn't really work. as soon as you press a button you are instantly forced to run right (and you cant stop).

its a good point to warn players of this befor playing i guess, what did you think other than that

You should disable shooting when stood RIGHT next to a wall, as the bullets just miss the hit test and go right through.
Also, the bit with 4 blue blocks together, I fell through it when I slid onto it (using the pushback when you shoot).

Seems like a pretty decent engine though, you should consider de-metroiding it and coming up with some original IP.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, a game is worth a play.

oh..and want to see the engine demetroided? play wiggi walk :D
thanks for the pushback thing though, i'm considering removing it alltogether, it causes so many problems

Really nice, it's awesome how people are finally doing things like this :D
Only concern is the (1) button, because every time you shoot the browser mini menu pops up and down.

how odd, that doesnt happen for me, are you using the full version fo the browser or the trial version?
I'm on the full version and it never pops up for me..

Full version, but there may be an option that I allowed, as lots of the time it's nice to quickly take way the mini menu at the press of a button (1).
