thats funny coming from someone who looks like he took drawing lessons from Micheal J Fox

well at last sentence of my post i said i understand if it s the way he wants. also i criticise according to my favorite art style, not my own drawing skills (othervise i dont have a right to criticise :P), and my favorite style includes yours. sorry if I pissed you off, master.

I m not flattering btw, i really admire you.

The point is that he had parkinsons.

well i don't use a tablet and mouse is a fucking trippy device that makes you draw like a parkinson.

however i m learning to use bezier curves these days, it may help.

Alright guys now we've all had our fun but honestly.

Lets get serious here for a minute.

Parkinsons is a nasty disease that affects alot of people and we really shouldnt make fun of people who have it.

On that note, I am going to hell for this:

actually, no. you wrote me some paragraph of gibberish that made almost no sense. I don't know if english is your first language or not, but a grammar check could come in handy. And from what I could gather, you wanted me to do the drawing in a "european" or "japanese" style. Seeing as Europe has a whole bevvy of styles, I cant possibly comprehend what you meant by that. Unless your trying to point to some specific artist but couldnt because you were still trying to teach yourself how to type. Japanese means you want it anime style. Fuck that. Why would you want that? Why would you want it done in the same art style EVERYONE uses these days? Idea: when critisizing something, find a flaw in the picture and suggest how to improve upon it. Don't spout meaningless immature junk like "make it more japan style plz". End of rant.

Im gonna try not to take that personally, because i will always remember what you did for me. But still im gonna rant now for a bit. You pulled me up once when i was down, and now im some sort of a basket ball that you can pick up and bounce with because i happened to comment here? C'mon man, wheres the luv now? And btw, i dont have ego in me. You got the picture wrong man :( That i love drawing myself? Heh nope, i do freehand randoms and dedications. I happen sometimes to draw myself when testing something new ive learned, because i find that easier to do, and fun. Ive never proclaimed myself as an "artist" either, i just keep beating myself 'till i improve to become one. You dont like my goatie? Pull it.

Okay so.

Ignoring the gay soap opera that has occurred in this festering boil of an art topic......

I have added some more detail and whatnot. I sharpened some edges that were a bit too blurry. I added some very subtle dents to the helmet. Put stains on the bodysuit, walls, floor. Fixed the shading on the floor, ceiling, walls, etc.

Now the question is:

Did you guys think it looked better BEFORE I added all the new stuff? If so, what should I get rid of. I could see the stains on the floor being a turn-off, but I quite like the way the dirt on his suit and legs looks.
But I am asking you guys if I should undo any changes before I continue on painting this crap

pawnage

well in fact i used wrong description. after seeing the smooth and cartoony lines you made in this great movie about a cube city, i found that pic a bit raw for your style, about jap or european style, yeah i just twaddled at that point. okay okay, my whole criticism was a twaddle! but i say again, i said it s okay if you wanted to make that pic in this way. phew, i really feel noob now, although i accept my fault.

and yeah english is not my mother language and i often make grammar mistakes.

and now, i LOVED this pic! yeah it looks great, and i say it from heart. it s all smooth and splendid.

also, about european style, i meant european comic style which Uderzo and Moebius use. What can I say, it s my taste and yeah, it was a fault to criticise it according to my personal point of view.

It looks way better now, but I don't like the blood stains on the floor near him. They look a bit too smudgy and blurry. Everything else is a great improvement, though. Maybe a little less fog in the backround?

Ok onto the picture, I love the latest version, totally hot.

I find it a tiny bit too dark tho, but Im sure that what you were going for.

might I suggestion some secondary lighting? JohnnyUtah does that alot with his pics, and I have since incorporated into my own stuff, and love the result.
maybe an ominous red light source coming from the lower left picture could outlined the art a but without giving away to much detail.

bang up job tho

Probably because it being a slightly realistic painting, I gave him the standard 4-fingered cartoon hand. Probably cause I didn't think I was going to do as much fancy painting and texturing as I've done to it.

If you like Moebius, you clearly have good taste, as he's pretty damn awesome.

At 9/7/07 11:58 AM, PeiMei wrote: I think you should remove these 4.

Yeah, they do seem to stick out a bit much.
I am pondering if perhaps, instead of removing them altogether I should maybe make them more transparent so they are more subtle and dont stick out too much. They're too thick for a stain and too blurry for a puddle, so I'm thinking of fading them a fair bit so they dont POP so much.

Well actually, I was planning on doing that. :)
In the left hand side, I was planning on putting a second hallway there, with sort of an ambient green spooky light emmanating from it, that would also cast green light on the big daddy. I was also pondering placing either a Splicer or a Little Sister in there as well. Or possibly one of the "Ammunition Bandito" vending machines. But I'm not going to fiddle with that until I get the larger half of the painting done.
You pretty much read my mind though.

Very nice. Not much to complain expect that of my taste which is:
I dont find that Bid Daddy too indimidating like the ones you really see on Bioshock. And no, adding red light coming behind the glass wont change that :P

His hook looks a bit too, well, how to put it... "UNdangerous". Maybe if you had added something else...?
He looks a bit like he could be smashed with the wrench (until you'd be beaten to death)... :P
Dont get me wrong though, that pic is pretty much genuine pro stuff, keep it up!

Sure, we all share one thing. We will all die sooner or later.

I like it! BigDaddys are intimidating! you could probably stand to change the texture on his legs, it's slightly skewed as is.
