Dumb Commercials that Piss You Off

Please feel free to post your personal gripes about any specific commercials, but here's the one that motivated me to make this topic (along with the fact that I haven't posted in General in a week or two and finally thought of something that belongs here for sure and not in Where is/How to)...

Okay, some may have seen this. There's two guys at a club with this girl, they're all sitting at a table away from the bar.

The girl basically says she likes them both, but she can't give both of them her phone number. So one guy (call him Joe), says "well, excuse me while I grab a pen," and goes off towards the bar to find a pen to write her number down. The other guy (call him Mike) kinda puts his arm around the girl and says "thanks!" all cocky-like.

While Joe is gone, the girl asks Mike if he and Joe are close. Mike says "yeah, blah blah blah" while he's secretly punching in numbers into his cell phone.

Suddenly Joe's phone rings (it's on the table). Mike picks it up and says hello. Then... "oh, sorry, your fiance's not here right now..... oh yeah, he's thinking about you RIGHT now." (and just as he says that, Joe, who's over at the bar, points at the girl and winks or something, making it seem sleazy).

So then Joe is coming back over to the table, but the girl and Mike are going out the door, and he and Mike kinda exchange smiles (like "ooo, you got me... gotta hand it to you" from Joe's perspective, I guess).

Okay, so the commercial seems okay at first glance, right? Kinda underhanded prank by Mike, but whatever, everything makes sense.

NO! Second time I saw the commercial, it clicked. There's two major things that piss me off.

A) who the hell leaves their cell phone ON A TABLE in a busy club, even if their (so-called) friend is there with it? (or maybe I should say... ESPECIALLY if their "friend" is with it #;-}>)... but this is a relatively minor beef.

B) WHY THE FUCK IS JOE GOING TO THE BAR, HALFWAY ACROSS THE ROOM, FOR A WHOLE MINUTE, WHILE HIS PAAAAAL SITS WITH THE GIRL HE WANTS.... FOR A PEN TO WRITE DOWN HER NUMBER....

....

when he could just type it into his cellphone in 3 seconds!!!! JESUS CHRIST.

Seriously, though, I know the commercial you mean, and yeah, that's stupid. But it doesn't piss me off. Why? Because it's in every other commercial. It's just the way of advertising.

And yeah, the commercial I bitched about is due to its plausability. Just the whole thing being based upon one guy being away to get a PEN HE DOESN'T NEED is beyond belief. The whole plot is ruined by that one plot hole.

I mean.... to me, that is worse than some of the stupid leaps of faith and disbelief suspensions we're supposed to undergo for some really bad sci-fi movies (like those on MST3K, for example). Just horrible, horrible writing! #;-}>

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that it's because:

Joe and Mike are both studs, and they know that if one gets away, they'll get another chick the next day. Joe smiles because Mike won this round, but Joe is confident in his manly attractive abilities, and is going to hook up with some bar slut 5 minutes later anyway. Getting pranked by your pal is just part of the STUD CODE.

I hate the "Can you hear me now? Good!" guy. I hate that guy!!! almost as much as Jared from subway...cept I like subway so I can't hate him too much. I'm sure most don't like those cell phone commercials, I don't, and yah, I saw the one with mike and joe, I switch channels when I see it in hopes of it getting booted off the air.

Stud or not there is a higher code. One that says “thou shalt not cock-block”. No, being a man who is no stranger to bar-room pickups I mus say that you never get between a bog and his meat.

What do you think about the "new" Subway guy, then? The one who always comes into a place with someone else and something happens. Or else he's in a commercial and Jared and him have a stare-off because they're butting in on each other's air-time. heheh.

Ive nerver seen the "pen" commercial, luckiliy, along the lines of the mom commercials though I hate the motrin one that basically says Motrin was made for moms. Well good thing I dont take motrin because Im not a mom.
The theres a toe fungus one thats so disgusting I cant even watch it....bleah.
As for Jared and the verizon guy I think they look alike kind of.

god, while i was on holidays a week or so back in western australia and the northern territory, there was this shit as Eagle boys add with some 30 year old chick who was trying to act as though she was a "young attractive french girl" and was talkin about how the people she works with would prefer to discuss the pros and cons of the capsicum over talking to her... it was so fucking gay and annoying and the whole act went on too long... AND the bastard was played every add break!

Worst: Welches grape juice commercials, especially the ones with the stupid little blonde brat. The girl. The one with the creepy eyes. I hate her.

Best: A pilsbury microwave cupcake commercial I only saw twice, years ago.

Pilsbury Dough Boy pushes a box of mix onto a white screen. He's already giggling.

Pilsbury Dough Boy giggles even more when a cupcake appears from thin air, apparently signifying how easy it is to make these cupcakes.

Pilsbury Dough Boy starts giggling maniacly as icing gloops down from the heavens, landing on said cupcake.

Pilsbury Dough Boy howls with laughter as sprinkles fall like little candy snowflakes, landing on the icing.

Narrator is explaining this the whole time, the ease of microwave cupcakes...and poor Pilsbury Dough Boy is about to pee himself because he's laughing so hard.

What happens in these commercials?

The finger. The dreaded finger. It's a woman's finger, inevitably. And as it closes in, Pilsbury Dough Boy's eyes widen with terror, and he stumbles back against the box of mix, arms wheeling backward, with a tiny little: 'No, no no no no!' uttered out of his doughy mouth...

But it gets him. And Pilsbury Dough Boy screams and topples, lost in a barrage of laughter that probably made his little doughy stomach hurt for days afterward.

That is all.

a few years ago there was this stupid mcdonalds one where it was partly an add for that disney atlantis movie, it fucking pissed me off everytime i saw it it made me want to kill everyone within a 20 mile radius.

there are two main types:

weight loss commercials where HUGE people supposedly lose like 500 pounds or some shit and for some reason don't' have any stretch marks or excess skin or anything.

and those commercials where dumb people can become whatever the fuck they want without going to college. they all go kind of like this:
