I figured I'd post a bit of world news even if it's a touch belated.
Greece Is On Fire
Is this because they're godless, sexually reprehensible and were once sodomites?

No. I'd say that the ARSONISTS and long period without rain are probably the culprits. But that's just me . . .

There are those of us that consider themselves descendents of that tradition culturally. Don't get me started asshole!
Oh and Greece was once part of and even capital of Rome and are a hell of a lot more cultured than you! Barbarian!

My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next.

By the way Zoraxe7 you should really by RTW I played EB it was so worth it awesome game it lagged because of my slow computer but it was beyond good in spite of that. I am pretty sure you can get the gold pack for about 20 bucks now that MTW is out and I heard they are making EB 2 for that although don't quote me on that.

None of which is historically accurate. ;)
And if you really want, I will tear Gladiator a new one, piece by piece.

well ancient greece was an extremely sexually liberal society and pederasty and same-sex intercourse was commonplace.

Homosexual relations and pederasty was a societal norm then whereas today there are laws in states that ban sodomy and pederasty is an illegal practice today.
many states have implemented a constitutional ban on same sex marriage and civil unionship. and i would hardly consider pederasty a norm today. we legally consider this practice Statutory Rape.
And Rome was ultra conservative compaired to greece.
Does that negate the fact that greece was under roman rule for nearly 200 years?

Should I point out now that I'm a surge of testosterone away from sticking up for the honour of my Greek ex-girlfriend (and, therefore, all Greeks) in some long, rambling, overly paragrahed way? Especially as she's Peloponnesian...

Yeah, and what you DON'T seem to understand is that those relations in ancient Greece were not specifically sexual in nature. In many cases the relationship was either never openly acknowledged or served other functions.
The Spartan Agoge was a Pedastic institution, obviously military in nature. One could argue that the modern military training system still carries this heritage.
