i figured that would be a good name for this topic. what do you people think about mexicans escaping into america and going for less pay, taking jobs away from americans. i think that since they work harder for less pay, they deserve the jobs. but i think sneaking across the border is pretty low. it really is making americans work hard now though what do you guys think?

The best way to take care of the situation is to relax immigration laws concerning mexicans.

If they want to live here, they'll do it legally, then they'll be tracked, and caught and punished for working 'under the table'.

Or at least it should work that way. God knows it wouldn't.

I really don't see what the problem is with Mexicans coming illegally into America. It's not like they're coming here to sit on their ass and live off wellfare. These are hard working people that want a better life for themselves and their children.

Personally, I have never understood that arguement about them taking jobs away from Americans. When was the last time you heard of a Mexican sneaking across the border to work as an engineer? They get jobs as gardners and dishwashers. These are jobs which most Americans don't want. That's why they are available.

I don't get why some people get so mad about these hardworking people coming into our country. If anything, it's Mexico that should be mad about all the American criminals that run across the border to get away from the police.

Mexicans are a people with a lot of nationalistic pride. Most don't want to live in the United States, they just come for the money. I think the solution is re-instituting the old temporary resident workers programs. Under that former system, workers that wanted to come to the U.S. could be issued green cards very easily. Most of the work done was agricultural; They came for the season, earned their money and then returned to Mexico where the low cost of living meant that they could live well until the next season. The farms that hired the workers provided housing and meals.

As for stealing jobs, immigrants don't, mostly. They do the work that most people here wouldn't even think about, and they do it cheaper and better, too. I'd prefer 100 hard working immigrants to a dozen lazy citizens.

I'm in agreement with Commander, here. I've never seen a problem with the Mexicans coming across the border and getting some money for doing low jobs that most people wouldn't think of doing. The only problem is that, for some that slip over illegally, the government isn't getting their taxes from those people, especially if they work at a seedy place that doesn't exactly observe all of the laws of business.

Oh well. Labor is better than none, I suppose.
