How do all.
Im in the middle of making a flash based in the warhammer 40k universe. I was just wondering what you all reckon would be the best length for an episode?
Ive got enough animation for a 10 minute release (not including credits and any opening titles)
Do you reckon that would be enough or would a longer episode length be a better option?
I can see the overall project running to around maybe an hour or more as the story evolves.

10minutes is easily enough. Alot of series have shorter episodes than that and some have longer. I think that'll be fine.

yeah, i aggree with unknownfury. 10 mins is definantly enough, any longer and i rekon the viewer'd probly start getting bord of it.

Ok, cool. Thanks guys.
I just wondered if a longer ep length would have been better since the action is fairly constant. Less episode breaks would mean less piss-you-the-hell-off cliffhanger endings.
So I can take a break from serious animating and do the bloopers now:P

now it really depends. cause im workin on a flash series and chapter 1 which gose for only 5 mins (including opening and closing credits) than i have chapter 2 which im guessing will be 15 mins long. than chapter 3 about 20 mins long. I just depends on how much you want to show.
you can always do a 'Lost' way. show us a small peace of the show and never show it till 100 billion fucken episodes later :P.
anyway 20 is a good lenth max for a flash series per episode. only go longer than that on the final episode

I'd cut it to 5 and release more. More awards, more exposure, and 10 minutes can be a little long. Unless you throw a scene select in there for every episode, make them 5 minutes. 5 minutes is a long time even.

Yeah but my main problem with releasing more episodes was that there would be more cliffhangers that piss you off.
The action is fairly constant, and every ending having a tank rattling towards the hero doesnt help.
