as long as you don't have any of those adds which automatically pop up when you enter the page I'm happy.

Isn't that the worst place to put ads? I thought the point of the black borders was to improve the cinematic experience, but this just puts a big colorful distracting border around the movies. They have these on college humor and whenever I come across one I reload the movie and hope the ad doesn't come back because it's so distracting.

Tom would it be possible to press a button that says close the ad, and the ad would disapear but the movie would stay up?
There could be like a timer like after 10 seconds or something you can x out of the ad and watch the movie with out the border.
I dunno, but somehow I think it is SLIGHTLY distracting.

Well,if people start to find it too annoying, they will use the popup option to watch their movies and remove the Newgrounds page behind it,it would destroy the entire meaning of adding those ads in the background

Wish I could see them... My typing box is still laggy, I gotta minimize and drag the sides of the browser to get a faster typing speed. Work on that, then get some ads >_>
I dont have a signature, stop bugging me.

While I'm not sure on the thing as a whole, but it could have other implimentations such as self promotion. For example, if Dave wanted to whore out his DVDs, he could create an ad that wraps around his next RAB.

Why not an option in the NG profile that allows users to turn off the ads? I know the customization options haven't been 'activated'
Of course the default would turned on. This way visitors to the site see the ads etc.

Someone was complaining about these the other day in General, though I still haven't seen one myself. Do whatever you need to do Tom, we've been through worse, and I'd rather have NG be independently successful with ads than whore itself to some corporation.

Tom is a pretty cool guy. Under normal circumstances, I'd probably be all narrow-minded and grumpy about advertisements, because companies are always trying to shove them down your throat. But apparently these ads help sponsor artists. That's pretty cool. I wonder if they have anybody in mind... I wonder how you get on the sponsorship candidate list...

Oh wait... That's not true... But what's wrong with getting money for doing a job that you love? Or getting money to pay artists to do what they love? That's win/win for everyone. Artists are sure to put more time and effort into their work if they're doing it full time, instead of working another job that they might not even like at all and then only getting to work on Flash in the few hours a week that they have to spare.
And besides, I think you're only a sell out if you compromise your personal beliefs for money. Newgrounds, from my perspective, has never tried to control the content of its artists.
