Why are 13 year old kids looked down upon?

For one thing, they're notorious for playing and getting really into Runescape. You need to have a mentality of a seven year old to play that, seriously.

Secondly, shortening already short words doesn't make it easier to type. I find it faster to type out the words rather than using shorthand such as "u", "c", "ty" etc.

well, i have to say you seem mature enough. The problem with 13 year olds is that their minds are somewhat undeveloped. Most of them believe that skulls, dragons, naruto etc. are the coolest thing ever. However, I tend to allow them to make an ass out of themselfs before I actually call them immature.
