Just wanted to find the basic overall awareness of Canadian history and geography on the boards. I'll divide the questions into three categories. If nobody gets the hard ones right, I really wont be surprised, since not many Canadians know the answers either, but this quiz is for the Non-Canadians in the house.

2. Name any three Canadian provinces
3. Name any three capitals of their respective provinces (hint: Just name any major Canadian city, odds are it's a provincial capital)

BONUS
For those that have heard the jokes about the CFL (Canadian Football League), and the two teams, both named The Roughriders, here's a question based on that. Which Canadian cities did both Roughriders hail from?
This is for the Non-Canadians in the room only. No far cheating if your Canadian.

We're a democracy, I believe. I certainly couldn't imagine us as anything else. Or maybe we are. I understand how it all works, but the terminology escapes me.

ya, i knew all the answers but im Canadian, im just too lazy to type them all up.
and Technically speaking Canada is a Constitutional Monarchy which would be the true answer to #2. but you might as well call us a democracy, the rest is just a formality.

As far as I know, Canada is a republic, because we don't elect all the members of government, as some are chosen by the Prime Minister, or something like that. In a true democracy, we'd elect everybody.

That's not the difference between a republic and a democracy. In a republic (indirect democracy), the people elect representatives who in turn elect the government officials. In a (direct) democracy, the common people elect their leaders directly.

Well, most of the officials that are appointed are in positions that aren't of power over the people, they merely influence policy.
Like the senate, for example. They, and the house of commons, have the power.
They have the power![/evangelical voice]

Well whatever, close enough. Constitutional monarchy isn't a government type in Civ III, so don't be gettin all techinical on me =P. That game's taught me so much. Anyway, I'm no loyalist, so to hell with the queen. Involving the British monarchy in our government is a waste of time.

There seems to be some confusion, so the stupid american will clarify. A republic is a government that is lead by a man that is not a monarch. A Democracy is a land that is governed by the people. Now I seem to remember when I was younger that the only true Democracy ever to exist was Greece, and that Rome refined the government a little more into a republic, but it appears that definitions have changed and now you can be a Democracy and a Republic at the same time. The Webster dictionary says that you can be an indirect democracy through appointed representation.

Are you sure Medium 5c is Premier ? In french (I ive in Quebec), both are called "Premier ministre" (Prime minister for the traduction). In French, you only ad the name of the province after (Ex: Premier ministre du Québec (Jean Charest at the moment)) or "of Canada" for the Prime Minister of Canada.
Ho well, guess I'll have to perfect my english a little more (Crap, I thought I was ok)...
Vive le Canada ! (What ? Their french and english are both official languages has I recall !)
