I think that our government has way too much control over us. I am starting to belive that we are slaves to them. Whatever happened to just lving live without all of these requirements and laws that keep us from enjoying the only life that we will ever get?? Who do they think they are?

Nobody forces you to go to school. You can drop out. So either seize the school or stop being so whiny.

I agree with the others, I don't think there is any law that would force you to do anything except in North Korea of course. If you look at it, almost every government in the world has a rather lax input on how we live. Sure, they place punishments and penalties if we don't conform with the law, but it's still our choice to make if we're going to follow the rules or not.

Not going to school = No job, No money, Bum on the street trying to make people feel sorry for you because you didnt apply yourself, OR, You being on welfare, living off of the state, Why should i pay taxes to support dumb ass people like you, that had every opportunity to apply yourself but didnt because you thought "The Man" was keeping you down.
Stop trying to be edgy, its only cool untill you graduate, then you have to live in the real world, and out here, people dont like laziness, it only causes them more work
Contribute to society, get a job, pay some taxes, support people who are lazy and dont do aything, then you will have your answer why you have to go to school.

I agree with the going to school choice. If we don't go to school, then we are dumb, we get crap jobs if any, and we suffer later in life, but that should be OUR choice to make, and nobody elses. This is why drugs should be legalized, it should be your choice whether you want to screw up your health. The government just needs to let the average American make their own choices in life, instead of spoonfeeding them their own ideas. If people are dumb enough to do drugs, and skip school, it should be their own doing, so they can't blame anyone else. Besides, think of it as population control =)

The problem with that is the fact that most kids will choose not to go to school, because kids HATE school(I know I did.) If we give kids the right to choose weather or not to go to school, we might as well abolish drinking ages, and smoking ages, and allow kids to marry, and drop the age of consent, and get rid of child labor laws. It is, after all a child's right to choose right?

Only your bad choices do come back on all of us, our tax money goes to treat the uninsured and injured daily, dont you think that number would rise if drugs were legal, it is your life, however, your right to live is subject to not interfering with others right to live, or their safety. if you go tweeking out and kill some people, thats bad, and it has an adverse affect on people. If you drop out as ive pointed out before, you then look to the system to take care of you because you were to lazy to finish school, and to lazy to work, so now im paying for your medical bills, and your habbit because we all know youll use that welfare check to get more crack.

You do know just because they tell you it in school doesn't make it true right? Their are quote a few people that never graduated high school and still did well for themselves, The problem is that it is an automatic assumption that people that don't finish school are lazy or stupid.

You are correct, there are a number of people that dont graduate from school and go on to do great things, thats the buety of America, if you work hard enough, you can succeed, however when most people hit the hard part of life, the real world, they fail, everyone fails sooner or later, however they dont carry on, they dont keep trying, they become lazy because its convinent, its easy to fail and blame everyone else, Im not trying to slam people who dont graduate, im trying to slam a 14yo kid with his whole life ahead of him and unlimited potential who thinks "the man is out to get him" when he should really be saying im gonna beat "the man" at his own game, and make him kiss his ass.

To DDRmaster:
The government isn't the real problem. It's a symptom of a problem with the society.
School is awful in America. I went through it (including 4 yrs of college) and it was the worst thing that happened in my life. So my heart goes out to you, and I'll tell you some things I wish I had known:
- While school is "mandatory", you can test out of it. Get a GED or apply for a study-at-home Diploma course. Please note that if you choose this option, you will be disadvantaged later for it, so you'll need to be smarter, faster, and more committed than most to doing whatever else you want to do in life.
- Find out what you want in life, and set out NOW to make it happen. Think school sucks? Try a job. Jobs are worse than school, except that coworkers are generally better to deal with than students. If you don't decide what you want and grab for it, you'll end up in a dead-end job that you hate.
- The choice is yours. You can be a scientist, a rockstar, an actor, a sports star, a business tycoon, or President. Any and all of these options require only that you commit your life to them and to studying that field extensively on your own. This is not easy, and school will NOT help, but the choice is there for you.
- The piece of paper saying you graduated (even a college one)? It will earn you a job. As I said, jobs suck. REAL education is gained outside of school, and will get you a life. Read "How to Win Friends and Influence People", by Dale Carnegie.
There will be many people who will say you can't do whatever it is you want to do. They're wrong. Newgrounds itself is a testament to this. There will be people saying this post is full of it and that I don't know what I'm talking about. They're wrong. I know what I'm talking about quite intimately, but there's nothing I can say or do in this medium that can prove it to you, so just go read the book. How much of an investment is it, really, to read a book you can find in any library?
Your parents, your teachers, and others will tell you that your grades are important. You should listen to them. The grades themselves aren't worth a damn, but knowing how to study and proving to yourself that you can get good grades is important. Just don't neglect people skills, because straight A's gets you nowhere without them.
There IS more to life than what you've been shown, but it's up to YOU to grab it.

Let me say that school is there so we can get decent jobs. And jobs = money. You can drop out, but it'll risky as hell, because without all these papers and stuff, you can't get a job.

You've been alive for 14 years.
You have the option of dropping out at 16.
Is it that hard to wait 2 more years?
