I don't know why that would be a controversial decision, it's an excellent game. I'd have to say Chrono Trigger, though. Standard answer, sure, but it's badass.

I was a huge "Final Fantasy VII best game ever person" until recent, 12 was too awesome.

Well, I don't know, I molded Ashe into a godless killing machine. 1H sword and shield. Although, I had a system where I always had a tank, a thief, and a dedicated magic user (although everyone knew every spell everyone else did). And I'd swap them out every time they got a higher level. So really, all my characters were hardcore. When I played, every person had their function for specific battles, so I can't say I could do without any of them.

Yeah I got the girls up to higher levels (not as high as the men), I never did the whole 'tank, thief, decoy, healer, magic dealer, whatever' system, I just made my Gambits fantastic, my leader (Vann) would only need to step in and heal when things were bad against a hard mark.
