Imagine if the American government agency responsible for temperature records had announced a fortnight ago that it had overestimated annual temperatures since the year 2000. Imagine if, at the time of correcting this error, the hottest year on record was mysteriously altered from 1998 to 1934. Imagine further that if you considered the 10 hottest years on record after these corrections, the hottest decade changed from the 1990s to the 1930s.
Would that change your views on global warming? It should, because climate change theory says increased carbon dioxide in the atmosphere raises the temperature. Yet the hot 1930s was hardly a decade of carbon-spewing industrial growth.
Well, all these things have happened. NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies calculates the average US temperature figures. It does this by processing data from land measurement sites. Earlier this year a Canadian mathematician named Steve McIntyre approached the institute and pointed out an error in its more recent calculations. Figures since 2000 had been inflated by about 0.15 of a degree celsius.
The institute thanked him and on August 7 quietly changed these figures, and some of the rankings on its list of the hottest years on record, which extends back to 1880. It did this without any public acknowledgment of the changes
The New Top 10 Hottest Years: 1934, 1998, 1921, 2006, 1931, 1999, 1953, 1990, 1938, 1939.

Explain the reduction in the size of the polar ice caps then?

They have been melting since the ice age?
Samething with glaciers. They're going to melt.
Temp > 0 degrees celsius = Melting
If the earth isn't increasing in tempreture then there is absolutely nothing to base global warming on.

It's ice, ice eventually melts no matter how cold you keep it.

Uh, it wouldn't be to bad if it got a little hotter...and here's my reasons:
1. End of Paleness
2. Fat people would melt and be not fat.
3. More heat=less clothes(nudist will be assholes for awhile saying 'I told you so')
4. Beach volleyball season (and Baseball) would be able to go longer.
5. AC would be the new gas problem (this is not so good)
6. Illegal Aliens of the south would hate its hot here too, then they would go bother the Canadians and STOP TAKING ARE JOBS, just kidding.
7. Summer would be stretched another month.(hopefully)
8. Be able to play with your squirt guns you get for Xmas on Xmas
9. Pool partys in January.
10. More times likely to see a girl sucking on a popsicle.

dude you told him the answer ... anyway i couldnt care less about global warming according to my science teacher it wont affect where we live much till after im dead

Stop pretending you know fuck all about anything. Using the word kelvin doesn't make you clever, and using it in the worng contex makes you even stupider.
0 Kelvin is absolute zero. An anattainable temperature, really, because it requires that there be absolutely no energy in the system the temperature is taken from.

Yeah, Big buissness definately wants to meet increasing safety regulations by spending money on eco freindly measures to protect the environment.

Im more worried about when our magnetic poles change and we lose
the barrier against cosmic radiation. That shit goes though 30ft of led!
Did i mention we get 83% of our oxygen from algae in water?
Or that trees produce methane gas as a byproduct of photosynthesis?
Witch is 10x worse than carbon mono/dioxide?
:Cut down all the trees and we get cleaner air...weird...

Yeah, it makes sense to me. I think the climatic changes are just because humans are modifying the ecosystems, changing the balance on the planet, not because the " global warming".

Well it means that there is a hole in the ozone layers and we're still measuring increased carbon dioxide but it's not having any effect on our average temps.

If the ice caps melt the water level wont rise. put is on a tray, fill it till its about ti spill
over the edge, put it on your stove and melt it...no water will spill. Why? the mass is
already in the water.
O-zone = gone when magnetic poles flip.

Water, and anything expands when it gets warmer. As ice turns into water, it expands.

So you know, CFCs are responsible for the depletion of the ozone layer, not Carbon Dioxide. Anywho, the hole in the ozone layer would not be caused by global warming, but would be one of the causes OF global warming.
Increased temperatures don't make holes in ozone layers, and apparently, if global warming doesn't exist, then the hole in the ozone layer doesn't cause global warming either.

Ice melts, People get used to it. Penguins and polar bears can live in zoo's. Whales can stay in hawaii.* they migrate north so why not stay there.* Its ice. If we got a huge ass freezer and dropped peices of ice into the water, the caps would be back. I would'nt mind a few more degrees hotter. And if ur going to be a die hard liberal i will seriously explain it.
* look away here if you do not wish to be educated*
The earth as we know it is only a stage in the planet cycle. It will continuously get warmer until most of the planet is like tropical climate, I mean millions of years man so don't get ur penis in a knot, Then millions of years later the earth will start to get colder again until it reaches pre-historic ice age temprature. This will happen repeatedly until the sun goes supernova and turns earth into an world where life cannot be supported. I got this from different studys by senior trusted scientists, The history channel and much evidence from earths past helps confirm this. This is my theory. If you do not like it. Lump it. Say what you want but this is my belief on why the earth is going to get hot. Chemicals or something in the future may alter this, but for now, This is what Is goin on.

Actually, water is an exception. It expands, when it freezes. However, not all of the polar ice is "floating", a lot of it are huge glaciers above ground and on mountain tops. Moreover, the polar ice reflects a lot of sunlight back to space, keeping the planet cooler. If they melt entirely, the earth will absorb much more sunlight, which could make global warming permanently irreversible.

Put Ice in a cup. Fill it to the top with water. Put a lid on the cup.
After the ice melt's the water level stays the same. It doesn't expand and break the glass.
