Why wouldn't you download the leak?

I'm not downloading it just because I'm really anal about it not being "official" and whatnot. Waiting for it makes it more special when I finally do hear it :3

Incidentally, it is quite poor quailty rip, it's only 128kbps for most of it rather than 320 or higher. I'll rip the CD over it when I get the CD on monday.

Anyone else watch Muse at the VMA's amid all the Taylor Swift/Kanye West (who IS an egotistical dick) fiasco? T'was lovely, but I feel like it would've been longer if it wasn't televised. It felt shortened.

The Resistance was fucking amazing. The only gripe I really have is the French bit in I Belong To You, but I'll probably get used to it.
I agree with Leo when he said Resistance should have been the opening track, it's just fucking beautiful. I'll rank the tracks from best to least best after I've given them all a good few listens.
But after my first listen, absolutely incredible.

Got mine before after college. It's great in nonleak quality.

Quick question, does anyone like the track Undisclosed Desires? At first I liked it because I was listening to a new Muse song but after listening to it again..I don't know, it sounds like a weird, R&B song to me.

Haven't been down this way for a while. Anyway, what are your thoughts on the new album?

Personally I like most of it, though I'm a bit iffy about some of the more electronic-inspired songs, especially with what sounds like synthesized beats.

United States of Eurasia and Unnatural Selection are two of my favourites so far. One of the things I love about Muse is the way they can have two completely different sounding songs on an album, yet they still all fit together so damn well.

I've listened to the album right through 5 times now since last night (I have a lengthy drive to and from university at the moment which helps), and...

I absolutely love it. I was rather expecting opinion to be a little more split in here, but clearly I was wrong. My reasoning for that was that I can't really pick out any instant classics from the album. There aren't any stand out tracks in my mind that will go down as Muse greatest hits (though I've now been humming Uprising ever since I got home, so perhaps that one will stick).

But instead they've created a whole album that plays through from start to finish beautifully, especially the final three tracks. I didn't much like United States of Eurasia when I heard it a few weeks ago as a stand alone track, but in amongst the other tracks on the album I'm loving it.

And I've always been a big fan of the classical influence in Muse music, and this album takes that to a whole other level. Piano is especially a favourite of mine, something I tinkered with back at school, and this album has more of it than any other before it (or at least it feels like it does because so much of it is as solos).

I could probably go on gushing about it for ages, and I'm happy I'm not alone in enjoying the album so much. Most of all I'm pleased that my slight apprehension after hearing United States of Eurasia was completely unfounded- this album completely lives up to my expectations.

Exogenesis Part 1 sounds like an opening credits song to a Marvel movie.

It's still epic as hell, dunno why some of you think it's boring.

I don't like it.
It has none of the intensity and apocalyptical drama that you get from the Muse albums I've actually heard/like (Absolution and Origins...).

The the first half of the album is fairly boring - I don't like this Funky-Abstract-Rock thing Muse are doing recently - then things start to get a bit better when they rip off 'New Born', though that song ('Unnatural Selection') isn't that good.

'MK Ultra' sounds good, though I can't remember it much as the conversation on IRC was active then. But after skipping through it, it seems to be in tune with the Muse sound I like.
'I Belong to You' I really liked and is by far the best song on the album.
And 'Exogenesis...' is good, but for a three parter clocking in at 13 minutes, nothing happens until the third part of the song. It just seems like bad song writing. Though I'm just being critical here. I did like it.
