So has anyone worked in a specialty store and started there with no knowledge about that stores specialty?

I just got a call for an interview for Home Depot's paint dept. and I'm worried cause I know absolutely nothing about paint and painting. I know they should probably teach me everything I need to know but still...

Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Yep. Last March I started work at Canadian Tire's Automotive Department. I knew that cars had wheels and they moved, and that was it. You'll be fine; paint's a lot less complicated than auto parts, IMO.

You gotta know your finishes, what goes good on what, maybe what covers well, and how to mix and tint the stuff.

That feeling you get when you're afraid you won't get job you applied for, especially if it's a minimum wage job like a frycook or a cashier?

You'll learn... everyone learns and gets crazy with the monotony of any job.
I worked as a banker for 5 years... till this day, I know when are the best hours to visit the bank and little inside things like when a check can clear... and how to relieve funds the quickest way... and little stuff like that.

Oh, and what kinds of paints don't mix, and crap like that.

Don't worry, from what I've heard from friends who've worked there Home Depot does a pretty solid job training their employees. Besides, how difficult can it be? Learn a few facts about what paint is good for what job and the different ways it can and should be applied and eventually you'll have regurgitated them so many times to the endless streams of customers that it'll become second nature.

Nope, it was for behavior unbecoming of a Pets Plus employee.

Do you think droves of paint experts are walking around, looking for a job at Home Depot? Don't worry so much, if you're green they'll train you and if you have good employees they'll help you avoid the harder crap for a bit.

Oh I'm not worried about getting beat out for the job by "paint experts" (who in the econimic boom we're having here could easily find jobs that pay more then 12.50) I'm just worried about... Well I don't even know... haha.
