For all of you who dont know, American recently paid off Cambodia 3 million dollars to be dropped of all War Crime charges. (The US was responsible for majorly funding the Khmer Rouge - The US also petitioned and got Pol Pot a seat in the united nations). Cambodia, an extremely poor country - had no choice but to except the offer. Between 2 and 3 million innocent cambodians were slaughtered thanks to the US. So the States paid off 1 dollar per life - to get away... This makes me sick to be an american

Do you think this is the first time the system has paid to be absolved?

In fact it is disgusting, but actually american government can't shock me anymore.
And about other crimes and/or regimes they've supported, like Chile or Argentina, fine, thank you.

This might be true, but do you have any sources on it? Did the U.S. really put Pol Pot in power, or is this just something you heard or read somewhere?

Good point...we've put a lot of horrible people in power across the world...and it really does piss me off when nations just throw some cash at their mistakes like that absolves them...you can't try a super power sure but...couldn't they give a little more than THAT and some kind of public apology at least?

So the only good information sources are olfactory sources? Flowers do not lie? I am severely confused.

How can things like this happen and U.S. citizens still support their country? There's a few ways, and they are suprisingly similar to why people hold to their religion:
1. The media never tells us about it. Even if you hear someone like Michael Moore or fark talk about it, it never gets out to the vast majority of people, only a few who are not slaves to mass corporate media.
2. When those who do hear and understand the message try to tell others that support the government about it, they reject it with statements like "I'm sure that didn't happen" or "I'm sure the government knows what they're doing", both statements which rely on faith in the government. That's like trusting some guy you've never met to run your life for you, just because his ancestors were good people.
3. Americans have always grown up thinking "We live in the best and most fair country in the world because we make a big deal about equal rights and shit" so they never believe that America could do such a thing.
Americans REEEEALLY need to wake up and realize their government does plenty of things that hurt not just us, or the entire world's population, but humanity as a whole. If this country continues down the current path, we're FUCKED.
