Would you play a game I drew?

I'm in the preliminary stages of making a platformer game akin to Zelda II, I suppose, and I was wondering what you guys thought of the main character.
Miika's a youngish girl, the daughter of the ruler of Hovvel, an olden-time kingdom place, which was commandeered overnight by the evil, often pushy, George.
Anyway, is the drawing okay? I was never any good at drawing in the first place, so maybe you guys could point me in the way of some tutorials as well? I dunno.

That's a really bad demo thing that I started with, I've re-tooled the engine and made it much better, in my opinion...
But thanks for the encouragement anyhow.

But seriously, the art! How could I improve it? Is there any tutorials I should read, or books maybe?
