Does anybody else think that a claymation portal, or evenn just a clay section of the site would be a cool idea? Or a video archive, or stop motion, or something? Please reply and give me your opinions!

the problem with putting claymation into a flash project is that nobody knows how to do it without importing an mpeg

which either results in a super large file size for a 10 second clip, or a horrible looking one

Not unless you know how to compress. Now, have seen the hulky 2? almost 2 minutes of full animation in clay, and it was only a 2 meg file. the quality was fine, too. there was ALSO music in it. so filesize isnt a problom, if you know what it is your doing. :D

I don't know what the big fuss is, i've done plenty of claymation things while bored in college in flash. (Got bored, brought cam, friends moved can up a computer, animated it falling down, much lolling)

I admire stop motion but i see no need for it when it can just be put in the regular portal and be rated the same.

OK, that was fucking retarded. When did somebody sau it was flash? never. Ok, and also, you do use the flash program to put it together, so what is your problom? There is an audio portal, and that is not flash, do you have a problom with that? There is a forum on newgrounds, and that is not flash, still have a problom?

As cool as claymation is, theres not enough of it, and above all else, it isn't flash. Therefore theres no reason to have portal dedicated to it.

I do agree that the Ideal of NG is for flash, and stop motion isn't really flash,
how ever it is animation and I have seen Flash films that are not 100% flash animation and employ tricks outside of flash.
so at what point is a film using flash not a flash film?

look buddy. Just becuase its not flash dosn't mean it does not deserve to be on this site. Is there ONE SINGLE rule that says you can not do something like claymation or stop frame. Just becuase some one is'nt very good with flash why should they be denied the right to show off another type of animation that they are good at? Its not called the Flash protal is it? No, what ever you make, dispit being a flash, stopframe, claymation, or even a music video using movie clip (trust me its harder to do then you think) you should be able to let other people see it.

I think a seperate page for differnt types of animation would be cool. Just like we have a Video game page, you could have the exact same things but instead of headings like "Mega man", "Zelda", or "Mario" Make them different animation types like claymation, stop frame ect

I think claymation is cool, and I see no problem with it being on Newgrounds. It's not like it's taking over. There are only like a dozen. And most of them are good.
