Bah, I feel immensely retarded asking this... but I just got flash CS3 today and it wont let me put code on a movieclip. What the hell? How do I put code on a movieclip...

Really sorry about double post (they should have an edit option) but i feel I should say i'm NOT a noob, I've been using other versions of flash, this one is just being gay.

lol don't worry I had the same problem. It's because AS3 doesn't support movieclip code so your best bet is to 'create AS2 document" which you will find under the flash document section on the start menu

It was probably too troublesome, since you'd have to check the movieclip to see if there's AS on it, and to actually put it on it in the first place.

In AS3, you can control everything from the a single panel.

Because coding on the timeline makes a lot more sense. Also things are coded via event listeners rather than clip events.

I wouldn't be put off of AS3 just because you can't code on MovieClips - you can achieve the exact same effects from coding on timelines.

I wouldn't say ridiculous. It was convenient for some cases like simple button events and junk.
