There is a problem with that thinking. Some people know what is good, but they themselves can't duplicate or make something as good as that. Sure they can't give them detailed descriptions on how to become better at flash, but they can say if the animation was smooth or not, sound went with the movie/game, etc. Just because you can't do something doesn't mean you don't know when it is good or bad.

You're wrong buddy. You're not thinking outside the box. Anyone can identify whether an animation was smooth and while it does take some bit of intelligence to comment on the audio someone who has not work with flash can't give suggestions like, "Try a faster frame rate or you shouldve motion tweened instead of frame by rame." You can't point out stuff that someone who frequently uses flash can suggest. In the case of a game, you wouldn't be able to tell someone that when they use a tile-based game they shouldn't try put the velocity anything other than one, that they should attempt a different frame rate, make the tiles bigger so it gives the illusion of speed, or use the inc class to give the illusion of a different frame rate. That's why an experienced flash author has the ability to give better advice then someone who watches the portal daily but hasn't really made anything.

Ya mister 5 minutes ago I just submitted a flash that got 2.88, so don't make a thread just to make yourself look good. And most of ng doesn't submit content, we still contribute by reviewing posting voting and bitching.

Anyway, if the site was authors only, alot of people wouldn't mde flash, coming to NewGrounds made inspirations for alot of people.

Just because someone doesn't MAKE flash doesn't mean tjhey don't know anything about it.Critics don't make movies but they know what a good movie needs tpo have in order to work...well SOME do.

What about members with over a thousand good quality forum posts, intelligent people that leave meaningful reviews on submissions, people like that?

Not everyone can just pick up Macromedia Flash or Fruity Loops Studio and just start pumping out content. Various people have various shit to do, and not many have the time or patience to simply 'get good' at those very quickly.

You assume people who simply come to this site to view/comment on videos/songs, and use the forums as a place on intelligent conversations leeches then, yes? Without us, the site would surely falter.

I've made one flash and its currently scored at 4.06, I haven't animated since.

If users who don't submit flash content to this website is wasting the 'cyberspace' here and should be banned or kicked out of here, I think that this forums would become seriously isolated. I don't think many many people submit flash here, and even if they do, most of the crappy ones would be blammed.

All my 6 flashes have made it through with scores over 3, except "Banish From ClockHeaven"

I would submit stuff, I'm just not that fucking patient to make an entire flash. It's really time consuming, and I'm not that totally interested in flash to spend hours at a time animasting about 30 seconds of a 3 minute movie.

I don't see them as a problem, because thats how you have voting power, from your account.

You have to remember this is a Flash COMMUNITY.

Excuse me, OP, but you've just joined Newgrounds. You can't really know what the site's about until you've been here more than a few weeks.

You're suggesting an elitist approach to Newgrounds...which just don't work in my eyes. One of the things I enjoy, as a viewer only, is seeing a submission with real potential and being able to voice my opinion in the hope of genuinally helping an artist out; you said it yourself, you don't need to be a flash maker to know what's good, what works, or how to give advice.

Im not very good at it anyway, so they would most likely get balmmed.

For one, flash is expensive, pivot is free, doesn't take up much space, easy to understand, can be learned to use completely in less then 30 minutes without a tutorial and only with experimenting...

Makes me wonder: Why the hell use flash?!

Plus your argument has one huge problem. Flash itself consists of many aspects. I, as a writer, can tell a good script from a bad one as I have experience of writing them, the same goes for plots etc.

People who can draw well can give constructive criticism on the actual graphics of the flash.

You get the picture.

Just because someone doesn't have flash doesn't mean they don't have expertise that could benefit the author in some way.

Well, opinions are like butts, everyone has one.

Back when I first started here on this site, I made a couple of audios and submitted them to the audio portal. They're not astounding-they're not really all that good, to be honest. One of them may cause serious brain damage if you were to listen to it. But I did it because I felt that I would be looked down upon if I didn't have anything to contribute.

As I spent more time on the website though, I began to realize that the validity of your opinions is what counted, not the amount of flash or what not you may have.

You don't have to create flash to realize what's good and bad. Your mindset is the same as a person, who when faced with a logical, honest, constructive criticism of their flash, goes "Flash by XXXXXX: -none-".

It's also a very condescending mindset, that just because someone doesn't bother to throw together a quick, crappy flash, their opinions can be ignored or downplayed, regardless of their validity.

I don't think everyone has to. I just like to watch and I don't see why that would be a problem to anyone.

we would crash NG- 1,000,000 users times 2 (some submit more than one) *2MB (i think the average flash size)= 4,000,000 MB or 4,000 GB. or 4 TB or 4 terabytes- thats ATLEAST 4 terabytes which would need tonnes of memory adding audio and BBS and stuff would make it anything up to 8 TB which would take infinite comouters to store
