Becoming a cop?

Hi everyone - i'm just wondering, does anyone know what requirments i'd need to become a cop? I'm thinking of using it to fall back on if my life doesn't turn out to well career wise. I mean, I know i'd undergo training and shit, but would I need to know alot about guns/cars before hand? Or is that something i'd just learn as I go along?

I just hope it's not like that movie Police Academy. Steve Guttenberg can go to hell.

Haha, you're doing the same thing I am. My career move is a risky one, so I chose cop to fall back on. I wouldn't sweat it. Everything you need to know, they'll teach you. The physical examination is a joke. You only need your High School diploma to become a cop, but they generally won't hire you unless you get a college or university diploma.

Ah, thanks alot. It's not the physical part of it i'm worried about, i'm pretty fit, it's my little knowledge about cars and stuff. I can drive well, just know nothing about them - and I havn't fired a gun, but as you said, I can always learn.

Really kevin, you don't need many skills to be a policeman just a bit of fitness about you and dedication with some skills on the side. You'll take a course which teaches you everything you need to know anyway so don't go looking into it too far just yet.
