The way it is now, It Is That Way...because of the draconian laws that are in place. it has been forced there ,because of the mindset, of so called moral people ,into the crime/drug ridden system it has become.
Many of these so called moral & religious people would also be extremely put out if you told them your girl friend liked to suck cock. "Oh, my god! that's disgusting" is probably one of the most often used phrases you'll hear from so called morally religious types.
Use my favorite comeback-well at least we won't need to get an abortion, she can't get pregnant doing that!
Besides prostitution is got to be one of the oldest and most vial professions ever. The fact that a woman wants to sell her body for money is sad.
;
Hell dude, what do you think super models are selling....underware?
You think that actresses in skimpy costumes etc. are just solving crime on T.V. -wake up dude smell the F*&#$@G coffee.
Are you actually so mentally retarded that you can work a keyboard but can't see that?
If prostitution is controlled by the prostitute, where she actually see's the money she earns , & isn't forced by a pimp or her pimp induced drug addiction ,I know you will see something completely different.
I know a 'business woman' independant who is a friend of mine now. She owns/bought her mom a house.
She owns her own condo & several rental properties, she makes in her words -"a couple grand a plus a week & where in the world is a girl with a grade 10 education going to make money like that for a couple of days work a week."
She works out & works at keeping herself looking good & healthy, In what you've posted you don't have anything to go on except whatever redlight crime district you've 'heard about' or possibly caught a glimpse of.
Oldest profession absolutely
Vial yeah, I'll agree to that but only when it is considered illegal & forced into the underbelly of society.

about # 1, you have agreed to paint a house for your neighbor befor the end of August & that day you fall & break your leg (like I just did) you are now unable to fulfill your agreement.
Should you then be punished for that?
about # 2, If you mean "encroach on other people or things under their ownership "
What if a man owns a donkey is pissed off in his own yard & is beating it to death, should that then be allowed?
What if he owns a cannon & fires it off late at night in your neighborhood according to #2 that should be ok! I could go on & on.

I'm not an atheist or agnostic I just don't freaking care about religion. I try to think about it as little as possible because:
One every signal religion I've ever heard of has ridicules contradictions to it. Some more than others
Two because there are things science can't yet explain, some form of divine figure must exist if nothing else as a place holder for what can't be explained. There fore atheism is foolish. You know what I think about religion. I don't care who god is, what he thinks, how he looks, if he's really a he, if there are many gods or just one, weather he merciful or malevolent. I Just want him happy and to leave me alone and in peace.
Sorry about the rant, but I couldn't hold that back any longer.
My point in all this is we should base our law on reason for the purpose of keeping order. Prostitutes don't cause social unrest, they don't hurt people, and they certainly won't get any worse by legalizing them. Think about it there are billions world wide. If some ones going to gamble, sell there body, buy some ones body, or take drugs they are going to do it regardless of the law.
By regulating them as a legitimate business we can't limit there negative impact on society rather than letting them do what ever they want under a cloak of pubic and political denial.
We should leave morals up to the churches and focus on law it's as simple as that!

These so called "barbarians" were just as civil as the Romans ever were. These "barbarians" also possessed some of the finest examples of civilized traditions - trial by jury, parliaments, common law, right to bear and keep arms, and the rights of women just to name a few. Roman "civilization" was one of decadence and depravity - the type of things of which were prohibited and outlawed in "barbarian" cultures.

Really barbarians civilized you say. Well... how do you explain what followed the fall of the roman empire! Pillage and rape, the destruction of libraries, temple's, schools, sewer's, aqueducts, and world wonders. As well as the entire dark ages. That was sooo... civilized instead of sewers you had rotting cesspits. Instead of schools you had churches, instead of forums, Odeon, and amphitheaters you had a mead hall. Instead of aqueducts you had a well and finally instead of the Pax Romana 1,000 years of peace you had the god dam futile ages 1000 years of constant war! Rome had its faults but if I had a choice between eras I would pick Rome in a heartbeat.

Many of those values came from Cincinnatus, correct? (Just refreshing my world history. I think I'm getting rusty.)
In any case, I agree with you about the legalization of Prostitution, gambling and currently illegal drugs. We would certainly get a lot more tax revenue going to the fed or state level, and that could only benefit us in the long run (not to mention that semi-organized crime would pretty much drop off the face of the nation). However, many people seem to be suffering delusions about drugs, and the so-called 'War on Drugs'. I would refer you and others to an excellent site by the name of Drug War Facts. Please read and comprehend it throughly and entirely.

There is nothing wrong with a civilization being open minded enough to adopt good values, administration technique's, and warfare tactics. That is what made Rome great and why nothing the barbarians have done can compare it took them until the 20 century for Christ sakes.
That is also why we in this time should be open minded enough to adopt aspects of earlier civilizations. My biggest problem with this county is that we think we are better than everyone else no matter where or when they live/lived well we aren't and we ignore the wisdom of the ancients at our own peril.
And about my grammar go to hell! Yes I started my sentence with and. Yes its improper grammar this isn't school it's the internet. My writing is a hell of a lot better than most of the "teh" "adn" and "bceus" crap you get half the time so give it a rest!

You are calling me anti American and saying that we shouldn't try to make our country better. What are you on?
If I hated this country I wouldn't bother with a topic designed to give fellow American citizens ideas on how to make it better. Maybe you're the one who secretly hates this country. I mean if I did hate this country I would definitely take the stance that we shouldn't try to make it better and allow it to decay and collapse.
If you have a valid argument against the legalization of Vice than please speak up, otherwise find another topic or make your own.

Now on the abortion issue my plan is this: mandatory abortions for teenage mothers who don't use contraception and there significant other and a subsequent charge of first degree murder for being irresponsible enough to bring into this world a life they couldn't support and had to destroy, when there are hundreds of cheap means of contraception readily available.
But that's what religion is for to give us morals, that's not the states job. Which it why Vice should be legal. Why should my tax dollars be used to fight a ridicules war on Vice and the subsequent jailings it causes when we can be saving money by legalizing it with restrictions and achieve the same (or better in my opinion) result. Religion is free (most of the time) the state isn't.

He may have been supporting my argument in some weird way but I don't approve of the tactics tony4moroney used like tacking situations and quotes out of context. Let's stay on topic.
I thought I said the majority of the American public would probably secretly agree with me but be too scared to admit it. I could care less so I made a topic stating my reasons why Vice should be legal. Now if you have a problem with one of my reasons tell me so I can't explain what I would propose to solve that problem. My ultimate goal in every thing I say on this message board, and most other public forums is the betterment of this country and all of humanity.
One of the thing's I love about my ancient roman and modern Italian heritage is its emphasis on family values.
The fact that family values and legalized prostitution coexisted in Rome so long is proof of it irrelevance to my point. And the myth of roman debauchery is just that a myth there values were different that's true, but the worst of it are exaggerated accounts of a few people like Nero whom even in roman eye's where perverted.

Hey you pick your battles and I'm fine with that. I just got tired of hearing myself making the case for legalizing vice whenever the conversations in my privet life head that way. So I thought I would make my opinions known and this seamed a good a place as any to do it.
