Are you kidding me? I go to a public school, and we've got some pretty smart kids. The graduating class before mine had 8 students going to Cornell, not to mention other kids going to different Ivies.

LOL
You know nothing of my school. It's basically the best in the district, so we're kind of expected to get good grades.
And then we have assistant principals who like to be douchebags and not let us sit on tables.
The kinds of schools you're talking about are closer to the inner-cities, like St. Louis, but I heard they're going to clean up that district.
I once went to bible camp. Yeah, yeah, I've heard it all before, the molestation, gay stuff, blah blah, but for the last time, no, it didn't happen much.

How the fuck is the government dumbing down the population? There are so many stupid people in America because they either do not pursue an education, are lazy fucks, or cannot afford an education past high school. The school system doesn't dumb you down, it's the propoganda spread around saying "America is the best" that turns a fair portion of U.S. citizens into arrogant dicks.
What is it actually like in public schools? Do you really have loads of people in your classes who stand up and dance on tables, and just act like completely fools in class?
It's not too bad. No, we don't have chaos going on at our school, and if the teacher noticed you foolin around too much in class or just being an asshat, then you get written up.
Is it really at the point where there are some people in high school who can't even read or do basic Math?
Mostly the ni66ers and spics. Some wiggers. Other lazy stupid people. But they're just a minority, there's mostly average-intelligent students. But a lot of those can act immature and shit.
Are the classes sometimes disrupted to the point where you cannot even take in anything the teacher is saying?
Disruptes by students? Not to that point, no. If someone disrupts a class, they get written up.

Just so you know, I went to public schools in Hazel Park, which happens to be just north of Detroit. I mean, you can cross a street and be in Detroit. And this district is not at all considered one of the better districts in the area.

That only happened on days when we weren't doing anything in class. You know, on some days the class might be ahead of where the teacher planned, and ahead of other hours, so the teacher would let us have a day off. Even then, we never really got wild or anything.
Is it really at the point where there are some people in high school who can't even read or do basic Math?
Yeah, a couple of kids had problems with reading and math. But you will find that at every school.
Are the classes sometimes disripted to the point where you cannot even take in anything the teacher is saying?
No. Not at all. Anybody who would talk during class would be yelled at.
Basically, public schools in general are not like that. What was shown in that video is an extreme case. You can just as easily get a good education from a public school as you can from a private school. Hell, I only took one advanced placement class in high school, and I was accepted to University of Michigan.

well, nobody at my school dances on tabels, but we sometimes do fully planed out copertive dances and songs.
i remember one time...
I got chills, they're multiplyin', and I'm losin' control
Cause the power you're supplyin', it's electrifyin'
You better shape up, cause I need a man,
and my heart is set on you
You better shape up, you better understand,
to my heart I must be true
Nothing left, nothing left for me to do
Chorus:
You're the one that I want
(you are the one I want), ooh ooh ooh, honey
The one that I want (you are the one I want),
ooh ooh ooh, honey
The one that I want (you are the one I want),
ooh ooh ooh, honey
The one I need (the one I need),
oh yes indeed (yes indeed)
If you're filled with affection,
You're too shy to convey
Meditate my direction, feel your way
I better shape up,
cause you need a man
I need a man,
Who can keep me satisfied
I better shape up, if I'm gonna prove
You better prove, that my fate is justified
Are you sure?
Yes I'm sure down deep inside
[chorus repeats out]
"Guns don't kill people, the government does."

Well, it depends on how smart YOU are.
In regards to my high school, the majority of us start out in the same classes in freshmen year and we take harder classes the following years if we get good grades that first year. In harder classes, you are surrounded by other people who take education seriously, and thus the antics you described rarely happen, if at all. But in the easier classes, you are surrounded by idiots who do indeed do stupid things. The magnitude of that stupidity depends on how strict the teacher is. If the teacher is the human equivalent of a flaccid penis, then the students will walk ALL over the teacher. If the teacher is a bit tougher, then the students may joke around, but it won't get too out of control.
For example, my freshmen year English class I had this old lady as my teacher. She really didn't have the balls to enforce her rules. And to add to that, a student teacher (a sort of internship for a college student who aspires to become a teacher) took over the class for a WHOLE marking period. As a result, people would LITERALLY play cards on the back table and one kid would make the sort of sounds you would hear when someone orgasmed. In this class, people did horribly and a LOT of kids failed. In fact, some students, when handed an answer sheet, would seriously either hand it in blank or fill in the dots to make penis shapes. And most of the time, people would cheat in the most conspicuous ways ever--they would shout the answers and blatantly look over other kids shoulders.
Good times, good times.

alrighty.....im not saying math and science in themselves are bullshit, what im saying is, public schools are funded by the government. the government comes in and tells the school what they want us to learn. alot of stuff in math and science might be good to know, but, alot of the advanced math and science that they teach you in highschool is stuff that you would use for engineering orstuff like that, alot of people who are mathematicians and scientists get jobs working for the government. so to the government, schools are the perfect place to not only mold kids to be subordinate to authority, but also to know things required to work on things for the government, and the kids that dont learn alot? well thats why the army comes into our lunch to recruit, because they make kids think that if they arent super smart, and live in an ecinomically dpressed area like i do. they have no choice but to join the army. i'm actually pretty smart, but i dont apply myself because i dont want to be a puppet of the school system. why dont i want to go to college and get a well paying job? because i dont want to be part of the cycle of "go to school, get good grades, go to college, get good grades, get a good job, so you can have money to buy things to impress people and seem fancy, get married, have kids, have them get into the cycle, get old, give that precious money to drug companies for medication until you die, but dont fear, the system will go right along without you" no that's not for me. why won't i have time to look at a computer? mostly an exxaggeration, but to make a point, when youre 18, youre a legal adult, youre parents cant say 'you cant stay out all the time" so why not take that opurtunity?

In England, a public school means the same thing as a private school (but posher), the free schools are called State Schools (to one of which I attend), and these aren't that bad really.

No-one dances on tables, but there are a couple who do act like complete fools.

None that I know of for sure in mine. Maybe one or two might.

Occasionally. Only with teachers who aren't good. It's rare.

Well, the advanced stuff is all electives. Nobody is forcing you to take it. You can just take a bunch of entry level crap so you can get enough credits to pass if you want. Also, it's not like every job in the world is for the government. Yeah, a lot of scientists work for the government. But they also work for companies not related to the government, such as auto companies, software companies, and many others. As for the army, I don't think the government planned it that way, but they do take advantage of those situations. And, they don't seem to focus only on low income areas, because I am in a low income area (hell, all of Michigan is low income right now), and the army people show up, just as often as in high income areas. As for the college thing, hey, that's your choice. I was just wondering why. And with the 18 thing, I am 19, and I do go out often, but at night, so I have time after work to come on the computer for a little while. Although, I am never on on weekends.

It's evident that the goverment doesn't want kids who know how to form paragraphs or use grammar. Well, that's assuming what I think you were trying to say in your post is true.

the public schools arent the problem, its society. its deemed ok not to do exceptional in school, or that its ok not to go to college.
despite what school you go to you can see a pattern, those who do poorly have parents that arent strict/havent been strict enough. and those who do good have parents that are too strict.
foreigners may have a false sense that our public education sucks just for an idea of self superiority, but the truth is that the teachers teach those who want to learn. and by the time of highschool they give up on those who dont want to learn.
Faith tramples all reason, logic, and common sense.

Dancing on tables? No. Acting stupid? Oh lord, yes.
They still think yo mama jokes are funny, for crying out loud.
Is it really at the point where there are some people in high school who can't even read or do basic Math?
They do okay at math, I suppose, but their grammar and english is pretty terrible. Some people can read, they just don't comprehend WHAT they're reading.
Then again, I don't know if I can really answer the high school part of your question because I just turned freshman.
Are the classes sometimes disripted to the point where you cannot even take in anything the teacher is saying?
Only if the teacher doesn't have the slightest clue as how to control a classroom. Which is rare.

First off, fuck you. I go to school every day to learn my ass off so I'm NOT being manipulated by the government and NOT being opressed. You can work with the system to work against the system. While, granted, I'm glad to be in a private school now so that I'm away from the shit that I consider public school to be, I still thanked God for my opportunity for education, and I utilized the school for what it was worth. I didn't just sit back and let them teach me, which might be what you think you're supposed to do; I went out and learned things by myself. No teacher ever taught me about string theory, or the CFR/Tri-Lateral Commission, no one ever taught me about Edgar Allen Poe, or computer science, or the elements of style, or about Plato's teachings, or any of the other stuff I learned by picking up a book, found often at the school library, and reading. So maybe instead of saying "fuck education", you should say "fuck not being involved in my own education".
Oh, and also, I think there's something you probably should have learned in 2nd grade: proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, and paragraphing.

I Lol'd for some reason, and I agree completely!
We do have a teacher named Mrs. Carson who teaches both 7th and 8th grade science, and teaches us both the same thing.
She doesn't do anything except look at shoes online and give us busy work. I didn't do any work the last 6 weeks of school and got an A on my report card.
We have wars with stools and markers, and dance parties on tables, and my friends played baseball with a rolled up tortilla and a meter stick.
My friend once wasn't allowed to leave to take a piss, so he pissed on the floor.
She once didn't allow her class to go outside that day for Homeroom, and it was a nice day. When she left to go to the bathroom, everyone left via the window. She came back to an empty classroom.

Well, I like to think my school is pretty smart. We usually go to nationals for most things. (Not sure if that means much anymore) But I know the American School System does suck. We had a russian exchange student and he was saying that most of the stuff we are doing in class, he was doing in the third grade.

OK, let me clear a few things up.
I would have thought this would be an obvious thing, but when I said "dance on tables"I was really just saying clowning around. I don't literally mean dancing on tables.
And yes, whether you like it or not, the government is deliberately manipulating the population to unheard of stupidity. As some guy said in the thread, the govt. contros what schools teach, who gets taught in them etc.
Do you know how wasy it would be for the government to dumb down the syllabus such that there will still be people getting As, Bs etc as usual, except those grades will be like adding two numbers as opposed to something strenuous.
Anyway, this has been interesting. Keep up the stories.

I think that public schools are nothing more then daycare centers. Its mostly the students that are fuckin up their education, yes some teachers are well... horrible at teaching but for the most part its the students.
I always seem to be in the class where everybody makes stupid remarks to the teacher causes distractions and preety much just acting like dumbfucks who dont give a shit about education. Now if teachers were aloud to beat the living shit out of the numbskulls who disrupt the classes and every body actually tried to pay attention in class and learn something I guess that the education of the US would be dramaticly improved.
If you're Reading my post this is most likely the end of the thread seeming as how I've killed it. Sorry

Keep up the stories.
yes thank you. someone agrees with something i have to say......
hmm stories
well although im not from an "inner city" where there's stabbings and shootings on a regular basis.
in 7th grade a kid got srrested at a school dance cus he brought a knife to stab a kid. in 8th grade i shanked a kid in the chest and he was crying and bleeding and i didnt even get in trouble, but that teacher didnt care about much either. at the first day of 9th grade at the regular highschool, a kid got stabbed. and at the vocational highschool "where i go" "some kids" sell/do drugs in the bathroom, middle of the hallway, middle of class, and it was supposedly worse last year but alot of kids graduated and got expelled

Is it only possible to get good education by paying a lot or winning a lottery
I really mean literally a lottery, with cards pulled out of a hat. I saw it in the documentary
In 8th grade we picked numbers, then every day for two weeks had a lottery thing and if any one won they got an A in the class. The point was to teach us probability or something like that. No one won.

yes of course, it would be greatly improved by the violent beating of anyone insubordinate. hmmm a greater world through elitism and violent punishment to anyone insubordinate...this plan sounds familiar..................

Even more so in America because kids are coddled faggots whose self-esteem is regularly jerked off by happy-go-lucky PTO groups and the administration.
Where the fuck do you go to school?
Kids at my school didn't care about PTA crap. Unless there was free food.

Yea, every state has different policies and teaching methods and whatnot, you really can't say anything about US public schools on a whole because they vary too much.
