The Bourne Ultimatum 2007-07-31 00:38:47 Reply

Bourne comes home, August 3rd. Who else is looking forward to the new movie?

I think it looks awesome. A more proactive character, and crazy as it sounds, but I love the film series more than the novels, despite how different they are. I've yet to read Ultimatum or Betrayal though.

So, who's a fan of the movie, the film series in general, or the novels?

I'm going to see it, and use my sperm I had obtained from orgasaming about the film on my popcorn as a substitute for butter.

Sounds perfectly reasonable to me.

The films are quite different from the novels, though. They aremostly based around The jackel, a now-imprisoned terrorist of yesteryear.

The basic plot revolves around Jason Bourne, highly trained assassin who fails a missiion, ends up with amnesia, and is constantly either running from government assassins, discovering his past, or taking revenge.

They actually just released a box set for $20CDN, with both movies and a bonus disc in a file folder shaped box. Cool beans and cheap, it is.

True. A more proactive approach. Less running, more hunting, and of course the traditional car chase scene.

Meh, not for everyone.
I'd still give the third a chance though.

Ok, you sold me. I will have Jesse (DNS) bring over the first two the day ultimatum comes out. Then when we watch the first two we'll go see the 3rd. Imma give you an internet high five if I like em.

Also, thank you for the roccomendation.

The Bourne Identity was okay, but the Bourne Supremacy was fucking incredible.

Best action movie series I've seen in years, and I'll definitely be seeing Bourne Ultimatum when it comes out.

They should win an Oscar for overall choreography.

Enjoy, man. Awesome movies. And you're more than welcome.

I enjoyed the action moreso in Supremacy, but the idea and plot more in Identity.

I hear you, man!

Especially in those car chases. I love how his car is always wrecked the most. Unlike the other over-the-top chases in other movies, these show the escapee at a true disadvantage.

Quoted for great justice.

Cool.

Yes, but like I said, quite different.

Identity dealt more with former terrorist The Jackel, though the basic plot was the same.
Supremacy was completely different, dealing with the kidnapping of Bourne's love interest, and blackmailing him into a mission.
Ultimatum, though I've yet to read it, once again deals with The Jackel.
Legacy & the upcoming Betrayal, I have no clue what they're about.

Robert Ludlum wrote the first 3 books, with Eric Van Lustbader continuing with the next two.
There's also a game, The Bourne COnspiracy, in the works. Probably based on the films solely.

Actually, the second one was awesome in terms of action, I found. Plot was a little thin, as his main motivation was remembering a single hit, except for hunting down his pursuers.

Im sure I will understand the third one.

If you read up on the second, you should, yup. I'd still recommend it, though.

Yup, that was the intro where he was floating, and each movie has a signature car chase scene.
The novels are good too, but I have trouble reading government/conspiracy books. Can't really get into them. Got through the first two, but I don't know if I'll read Ultimatum and the others. I prefer the movies.

I think I'll probably rent all 3 at the same time and force myself to watch them.

Come Aug. 3rd, I'll watch both movies over again, before I see the movie in theatres. Can't wait. :D

Bourne Ultimatum: I want to find out FOR SURE who I am!

I haven't read the books (which is pretty weird for me), but have seen the movies. I thought the first one was a spectacular with fun action and a somewhat intriguing plot. The second one, not so much. It was pretty ho-hum really.

As usual, the previews give away way to much, but yes I'm still looking forward too it.

Now that the movie has been released, who's seen it, and what did you think of it?

It's getting some grand reviews and attention, it seems. It grossed $70.2 million in ticket sales in its first weekend of release, making it the all-time highest August opening in history.

Baring unforeseen circumstance, I'll hopefully be seeing it this coming Sunday, and I can't wait.
