How do you fade out and in on Flash 8? I've tried the default timeline effect, but it sucks and it always screws up my animation. I need it to fade to black. Any idea how? (I heard Vcam can do it?)

You could make a big square that cover the entire screen. one filled with black alpha 0%, then tween that to another big square that cover the entire screen on a different frame but with black alpha 100%.

easiest way is to make a movie clip that is a box that covers the whole screen. and fill the box in the colour you want it to fade out to (eg. white or black) then make to key frames and on one make the alpha of the movie clip 100% and the other 0% and then just tween.

the longer the gap between the two key frames the longer the fade!

Create a big black rectangle on a new layer where you want your fade to start. Add a keyframe further along where you want the fade to end. Go back to the first frame and set the alpha of the rectangle to 0 then just create a shape tween and the fade will be done for you.
You can do the same thing with a movie-clip but you will have to select motion tween instead of shape tween or else it won't work.

You could also use a vcam and adjust the brightness.

Art is something individual, nobody should try to copy something exactly how it is. Just let it happen and it will be the most beautiful thing you've ever experienced.
