Whoa, nice layout. And I get my own user page. Niiiice.

But because of this new layout and my general ineptness when it comes to site navigation, I don't know how to find my old thread, so here's a new one!

There were two people who asked me to draw them stuff, annnnnnnd I haven't really started them, adn now that the thread's gone, well, can those two re-post their requests? Thanks.

Not taking any other requests for now though.

Behold! My stuff:

I'm what some of you call a Gaia Fag. I'm on that site mainly for the virtual currency. The 'gold' there is worthless, but I'm hooked on the thrill of seeing the numbers go up and down. Anyway, I draw for the people there. Here's someone's OC.

My username there is -TheWingedRam-, by the way. If you frequent that site as well, drop by and say hi.

So I saw NewFounder's thread on old drawings, and I dug up my first deviantART account to find some old 'art' to post. I quite liked some of the stuff actually...most of which are photos. They were all taken in Australia when I was around NG's age range...15 years old. That's 4 years ago. I was on a hot air balloon with my family and I snapped away a ton of photos. When we went back home, I cropped the best ones and put borders around them.

Here's one of my two favourites from the account; took it while on hot air balloon.

An hour if I work intense. Two when I browse the internet as I draw.

Here's my other favourite photo from my oldest devART account. It was taken on the hot air balloon, same as the one above. It was dawn and there's a lot of mist. I like the atmosphere.

Last one for now. A photo of the sun rising taken whilst on hot air balloon. Amazing view, really. It's really cool, the photos you can take whilst traveling. In retrospect, there's probably too much border.

I really want to get a real digital camera and take some photos. All I have right now is the camera phone.

Thanks. All I can remember was that it's a Canon digital camera...or was it Casio? :\ I forgot. It was a new camera of my parents...well, it was new four years ago anyway. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. I suspect most digital cameras could do the work shown above anyway, if you meddle with Photoshop afterwards.

Yeah, I dunno why, but I can never focus on a picture for a long time, unless I feel... really inspired? I dunno, but, yeah, awesome art.

SlashBox: Me neither. I guess you're not supposed to focus on something like this for a long time. It's commercial doodles, nothing special enough to dwell on.

SmilingIdiot: I don't know what you mean by "not anime". This is as "not anime" as I can get without forgoing my style entirely, especially the first three. Is it the hair? I see western comics draw hair like I do too, example: Cable & Deadpool, Fables, etc. Is it the eyes? If you're wondering about the slant, it's because I tend to draw Asian features. I'm Asian myself. If you look at Asian characters in western comics they have that slant in their eyes too. Is it the cel-shading? Because a lot of western cartoons and comics use cel-shading too. Pointy chins? I have a few Western comic books at hand and the chins on my pics are no more pointier than the ones in the comics.

What is it that makes it anime? Can you define anime? Because I don't believe it's anymore of a trained style than the stuff Marvel and DC pumps out. It may have Asian influences, sure, but to say that it's a trained style and lump it with the ill-defined genre of anime (which has hundreds of styles within itself) is rather dismissive. Also there's already 40% more realism mixed in my style when you compare it with the wide-eyed triangle faced preteen magical girl anime shows.

What is it that you are asking me to draw? If you are asking me to draw in the style of Marvel and DC, note that the line between the supposedly two different genres of comics and anime are already blurring. If you are asking me to draw in the style I see prevalent in the forum, the flat, cartoony style...I'm gonna have to say I don't feel like doing it. What makes the supposedly Western looking art better?

And what is with everyone and realism? I draw to kill time and calm my nerves, I'm not gonna paint portraits someday.

SmilingIdiot: Well, you aren't the first one to say something like that. I think you see it as anime because there are subtle things that show an Asian influence in my pictures. I feel similarly about anime drawn by north Americans. They got most of the style but you can still tell it wasn't drawn by an Asian, just like the way how you can tell that some western comic pics are drawn by Asians. One more noticeable difference, I believe, is that Asians tend to use thinner lines, which makes their pictures more whimsical and fluid, whereas Westerners are more liberal with applying weight to their lines and their pics look more solid.

However, I prefer my thinner lines.

StoneColdSoul: Thanks a lot :D

Kill my shoes?
Anyway you don't have to apologize. I was rambling in that post because I was a little frustrated, but I wasn't angry at you. Sorry for cornering you like that. It's understandable why you and I see the pics differently.
Yeah, I think you're one of the requesters. Haven't really started drawing your character. Could you post me a link or something to a reference picture?
