and your games will never lag so there.

Half Life will run on both, with lower settings on the 1.6 ghz since minimum system requirements are: 1.2 GHz processor, 256 MB RAM, DirectX 7 level graphics card, Internet connection (broadband or better recommended)

One is 1.6ghz and the other is 3ghz. The one with the higher number is the better cpu. 3ghz is an okay cpu; 1.6ghz is not. The 3ghz cpu is almost twice as powerful.

Also "lag" is network latency and has very little to do with how fast your machine is. What you mean to ask is "Will it run games like half life 2 smoothly?"

Obviously the 3Ghz will run it well, but the 1.6, eh not so much. Also take into consideration the amount of RAM and what kind of video card you are going to use. If you only have like 128MB of RAM, you will not get the smoothness you would if you have a gig plus.

Where ever you read that that made me laugh, you need 2Gb of Ram and a Damn Good Graphics Car to get your game Lag free mostly.

The Pentium M (Mobile) chip is one half of a laptop system known as Centrino. The other half would be an integrated wireless solution. Power conservation was the ultimate goal for Centrino and not gaming.

Both chips are considered "old" by today's standards, with most systems now running dual core chips. I would choose the P4 for gaming, as long as you have a way to deal with the heat.

As other posters suggested, you will need to also consider video card requirements and I highly doubt any laptop with a Pentium M has a high-end video card.

I assume you are looking to purchase a used system, you would be better off having a local computer shop build you a tower to spec.
