Shrapnel: Actually, as I wrote in the first essay, I have real problems teaching anything that is compulsory. The biggest problem with school is that people are forced to learn a whole lot of irrelevant crap that is of no interest to them. That's the fastest way to kill the desire to learn.

I'd want people to come voluntarily. Of course, I'd have my own way of doing things, and I would probably be a bit of a task master, but then that's up to the students as to whether they come or go. I wouldn't want to make them.

Eventually, I'd prefer to teach in some informal capacity such as homeschooling or something of the like.

Actually, eventually, I'd like to do something like spoken word and play music, but that's another matter entirely.

The last thing I want though is to be part of a system that doesn't work. If I turn out to be a good teacher, that should stand by itself. People would want to learn. If not, so be it. The present system is all about cajolling people into the classroom, and then claiming attendance as proof of not only the success, but the necessity of the system.

Frankly, it's no wonder no one has any respect for the vast majority of teachers. They don't deserve respect. They're bad at what they do, and they hide behind compulsory attendance to justify or excuse that.

Anarchy: We had corporal punishment at my school. All it did was make people resent authority and become more subversive.
