the question is, why is it rick ROLLED?

he is not rolling around, the picture is not rotating, there is no indication of a barrel roll

what am i missing?

i stemmed from a 4chan /f/ fad where you got duck rolled,and then it moved on to youtube

The original trick was the Duckroll, which involved linking people to a picture of a duck on wheels, claiming it to be something else.

Then, someone linked to a copy of Rick Astley's music video claiming it was something else. This is now referred to a Rickroll.

There have been occasions of linking to a video of the duck on wheels while "Never Gonna Give You Up" plays in the background. A DuckRickRoll.
