I've constantly been thinking of moving to Japan.
Think about it, it's free of the idiots who started half of Newgrounds fads, free of aura war and shitty console war, the internet and forums are sure to be more complicated and nerdy than full of spam and shitlik 13-year olds, it's where most of the GOOD consoles and products originated, they have AUTHENTIC arcades.
Hopefully, 80% of censored american entertainment will be gone.
I'd get to meet famous game designers like Yuji Naka and Hideo Kojima.
And the teens/nerds are noticeably smarter than American Children. Notice Japan lacks any record shootings or bored teens burning a car/house down for fun.
Better yet, I'd NEVER miss another E3 or Tokyo Gameshow.
I heard Japanese is one of the easier languages to pick up, I've got over my fear of flying, and once I come of age I could probably make it to Tokyo without any big problems.
Who knows, I might even learn japanese and become my number1 dream job, a game designer.
So what do you think Newgrounds, would moving to Japan sound cool? Would it be right for me?
No offense, but I'm honestly sick of America

If you can speak and read Japanese go for it. If not then learn it before going there because otherwise you're pretty fucked.

But Japanese is the main language and all the signs and books will be in Japanese. Also quite a lot of people there don't speak English as a second language.

Yeah man, I know what you mean - I've always wanted to go live in Japan. Which is my dream and destiny to make it come true. Anyway, I've always wanted to become a computer games designer like yourself. Can't fucking wait!
And, I'm alright at Japanese too. I've taught myself with websites and stuff.
And one more thing, to people who think going to Japan is a bad idea:

Japenese is one of the hardest languages to learn.. It's like learning 2 languages! You have to learn how to write in Japanese, how to speak in Japanese, and how writing and speaking correlate with each other.
But Japan ROCKS!!! :D :D :D :D

IF you do, you will slowly become an asian. Do you really want a small penis? Also none of your family will be able to pick you out from a crowd of other asians. Is it really worth it?

Ok, first thing:
Japanese is not an easy language to learn. I can speak Japanese fluently because I lived out there for five years, and my parents speak it fluently. There are three different dialects, all with different meaning and pronunciation. Which is a bitch because if you are not into poetic writing, you will absolutely loathe the language.
Japan is a fucking expensive country. I live in the UK now, and even though the UK is around twice as expensive as the USA, Japan is around four times as expensive as us. Plus the currency is retarded and takes some time to figure out.
If you plan on living in Tokyo, be prepared. The city itself will destroy you if you are not streetwise. You will get lost, easily. Or just plain confused with all the fucking lights and music playing around the city. Also watch the roads, as it is likely you will get killed by passing cars if you don't know what you are doing.
Jobs out there are hard to get. Unless you are smart with decent College qualifications, you will end up working in a factory of some kind or a street shop. The pay is terrible also, so making a living will be a real hassle. If you want to be a games designer be prepared for some major competition.
Oh yeah, and the Winters are fucking freezing. Stock up on sheepskin coats.

Japan is among my favourite countries, along with South Korea and Finland. After my first year of university (2 years to go), I got the clear to go to Japan or South Korea. Language wise, Japanese is a lot harder. First you need to learn the kana ( katakana and hiragana), then the kanji (characters). There are thousands of kanji if not millions. If you really want to go to Japan I suggest you start studying right away.

Japan seems really friggin complicated. The Language is very detailed, there are various forms of writing, etc. Plus, it's kinda expensive. Plus, if you meet a girl there, it's likely that they'll want to be with you just so they can escape Japan, since some women dislike the atmosphere.
It would definitely be worth spending 6 months there though, but obviously, that's kinda hard considering such a different culture will need ALOT of getting used to.
I hardly ever come here anymore....

Don't move there because your some otaku. The Japanese hate otakus a whole lot more than we do.
Your wasting time my friend. Your not gonna fit in japan at all. Just stick with the fansubs instead of moving to japan for anime.

But they are horribly xenophobic, especially towards westeners.

Not to write, at least.

Ah, man, you really should read Squidi's blog about his time in the games industry and Japan. I don't think he hosts it anywhere anymore. Anyway, long story short, game company execs are ass, japan is ass, and making games in japan is double ass.
So what do you think Newgrounds, would moving to Japan sound cool? Would it be right for me?
It's really a different culture back there, one might think it were easy to blend in, but it's not, really. If you're serious though, I suggest you really get into it, not just go in half-assed. Prepare to be said very politely to go fuck yourself, and to suffer a lot of rejection. As for game design, you better know what your doing, kid. Just a few ideas and some basic programing won't take you far.
No offense, but I'm honestly sick of America
So am I, but hey, at least I don't have to live there.
