It's sad no one read this, umm how about Aldous Huxley's Brave New World?

I read that one last year, and I just started 1984.

The book looks promising. I haven;t gotten much farther than the first twenty pages but I already like the setting.

I read both as well and appreciated both equally. I was very disappointed when the Animal Farm movie strayed so much from the original books plot.

My opinions may have changed, but not the fact that I am right.

Dune, by Frank Herbert

No other book can surpass the epic level of that text.

1984 was a pile of crap that pseudo-intellectuals to this day have masturbatory fantasies over.

Spoilers: Winston loves big brother.

Now THAT is a shitty ending.

1984 is alright. Personally I prefered Animal Farm.

You can't really compare Harry Potter to 1984 though. Trying to do so just makes you look like an idiot.

Funny you should mention that. I myself am reading 1984 instead of HP 7. Better plotline, better characters, better sex, etc.

1984 really confused me at the end. It made no sense but I still kept reading. I have to say, "it was one great book."

Animal Farm was a lot easier to follow and I enjoyed reading it during my freshman year.

Pointless spolier, if even one. The back of the book forced me to read "the last 4 words" and I didn't get anything out of it until like the last 10 pages.

I liked the book, not many like it anyway.

What does Harry Potter and 1984 have to do with each other, honestly, they're 2 totally diiferent kinds of books, besides I think 1984 is over-rated, the message is good, but it's gets bogged down with that dumb love story.

1984 used to be one of my favourite books until Brave New World came along.
If you liked 1984, you'll probably end up liking Brave New World just because it's along the same lines.

What do you mean by that? I take it as you are implying that people that read Harry Potter only read fantasy stuff, or something like that? Well, let me tell you, I am an avid fan of Harry Potter, and I have also read 1984. I thought it was a great book. I wanted to read Animal Farm, but my library didn't have it. I have also wanted to read Farenheit: 451, but again my library failed me. Ever read Whiteout? That is a good book.
