What do you prefer, NG?

I just got in discussion with Sawke about what the majority of NG prefers.
I still believe in the "Club a Seal Genre" and blood and gore, THAT is what this site is all about.

Now she begs to differ, she absolutly believes that NG has changed and that it's getting repetetive.
It's more about the random humor, and dialogue.

Now, it is up to you. What do YOU think.
Because you is what we animators all depend on.

Hardcore Blood vs Dialogued Jokes.

I think it has generally changed to a scripted dialogue orientated portal overtime, and I do prefer these Flashes, but I still like some of the classic violent flashes that caught my eyes all those years ago.

Too bad, I love the Ultra Violence section. To see FbF'd blood wich is so smooth it's a treat to the eye, always makes my day.

i'm one for blood & gore, most definately, but that's not the NG of today. i believe that we're more into tasteless and tactless references to general media juxtapositions placed in even less creative circumstances.

in other words,
the NG now: "OMG LOL HARRY POTTER BANGZ VOLDIE"
it'd like some more blood and dark humor.

Dialoged jokes. Mainly beacuse i'd rather have a laugh than being fascinated when a guy blows himself up, but also beacuse i might have some use of the jokes IRL. Well who know, it might be useful knowing how to blow a person up or decapitate or whatever, but uh, i'm not really planning on going on a rampage anytime soon :S

I think it depends on the user and his/her interests. If you're looking for blood and gore, you'll find it; if you're looking for random humor and dialogue, you'll find that too.

There's all kinds of neat shit here, but you probably notice what you enjoy most.

I think that dialogue is important. A flash isn't entertaining to me when i see stuff battling eachother for this reason or that. I'm so SICK of seeing two figures going all super saiyan then BOOM "wow he threw a shiny light ZOMG IS THAT A KATANA? DID HE PULL A KATANA OUT OF HIS ASS?? ALL MY 5! ALL MY 5!" i'm not against fight scenes.Honestly hearing people talking non stop gets boring.

Some sort of movement is necessary. I just don't CARE for scenes that have fighting frankly i find it boring. But it betters that flash so ok.The point is you can't go a DAY without looking in the portal and finding the same thing.Two figures battling eachother sometimes there is a reason....usually there is not.Flashes like the original Xiao Xiao ,that was good i enjoyed that.But it kept getting over done and the quality got worse. Now you'd be lucky to see a stick flash hit front page.

These flashes are the type that the majorty enjoyed.Violent fight scenes aren't as necessary as they used to be.

Take a look at DBZ in a nutshell.it has terrible graphics. Before Metal Gear awesome it had low scores. Nows it's huge. If it's funny, and random in a way that appeals to people it can hit front page.Being funny is hard to do and it's even harder to be orginal but violence is no better.

It's even harder to be original with fighting because we've seen it all.Now if you want to make a violent flash go ahead go nuts. But don't think that it will get FP because NG users are more interested in plot and dialogue.unless of course you have a amazing flash skills like the Admins.Then no doubt it will get FP.

i'm not saying that NO ONE likes fighting flashes. There's just not enough people who do to make that flash become hugely successful.

There needs to be a balance of both in submissions to appeal to everyone, but I would assume that dialogued humor is more prominent in a popular submission.

I think the media is responsible for this. They often cover and twist stories about violence in relation to video gaming. This isn't of too much consequence, but it plays some role in the conversation.

I think that the majorities of peoples' tastes also play a role. Violence isn't incredibly populer in other media, so the majority of people enjoy humor over gore. NG needs to cater to the general public's tastes nowadays, so humor is more common than sensless violence.

Again, a little of both is ideal, but I believe that humor plays a bigger part in the success of Newgrounds nowadays.

It varies I think. But if had to choose between the two, I love the violence. But then again you need a good laugh.

But theren aren't very many "funny" jokes on newgrounds. Its a stupid joke that noone likes or an inside joke that only a NG pro would get. IT does get repetitive.

Take this guy for example.His flashes are violent but with words.Like rape jokes make me laugh when they're done well. I don't mind seeing blood.I just get bored when i see two people battling it out and i don't know why.How many times can you stand to see a guys get head cut off with a katana before you start getting pretty irritated?

But there are still some flash artist who keep it alive, Krinkels, SickDeathFiend, RedSkelton, etc...

They are the backbone of NG, and they try to keep it alive =3
