I don't see how he can be sued for copyright infringement, but this whole situation cracks me up :)

Fred dies!?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
Max has been threatened with legal action before. This probably won't be too different.
People die!?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
!
Considering how tight security of the book was supposed to be?
Considering how much publishers were going to fine retailers for selling the books early?
I completely understand why there would be lawsuits, but Max can't do anything, really, about people submitting it, other than deleting it.
Sued? If you don't want spoilers then don't look at them!
It's kinda stupid if you ask me

What security? You can't get in trouble for reading a book and telling people about it.

Oh I hope those douchebags get sued. But Max just owns his site and that whole "two friends told two friends" thing happened, resulting in spoilers on his site.

Yeah, I really doubt Max will get sued. He's been threatened with lawsuits before many times ;)

Well no, if you click some of those links up there, a title of a YTMND could be completely unrelated to the following content, and have spoilers inside.

Clearly the people sueing him think there is a magical net that stops anything illegal from ever getting online.
Clearly.
Yet, when the whole "Snape kills Dumbledore." thing happened, the publishers didn't care.
Maybe the funniest thing I've ever seen.
I just posted a link to the first one in a Myspace bulletin, saying it was a funny video.
My inbox just blew up basically.
Your reply to this isn't going to be clever or witty, so just put down the internet and go outside.

That's weird. I just tried to post a bulletin and it said it was undergoing maintenance.

Worked for me just fine.

Honestly, I think he wants them to sue him. Come on, a religion and a major video game company tried to sue him. What's going to make this any different?
So this is my forum signature, eh? I'll look for ways to break it when I'm done with everything else.

Screaming words at people isn't breaking copyright laws.
whatever happened to ebaum getting sued?
You can't deny its epicness!

Though it's funny as hell.
That's like saying if NG gets hacked and someone posts HP spoilers and then it's Tom Fulp's fault

I'm going to be brutally honest, but I think Max and a majority of YTMND users are fucking morons, and I truly hate them a lot.
For one, the lawyers aren't being asses; they just want to protect the reputation of Harry Potter so people will actually want to buy the books. Buyers won't buy the books if it was ruined for them by spoilers, fake or not. Can you fucking blame them? It doesn't matter what they're trying to sue Max for (copyright infringement), just as long as they're using the legal power they can to protect their book.
Two, I hate the way Max tries to smartass the lawyers. He also tries to stand up to them like he had a point. HE DOESN'T. He acts like the lawyers are just having a conniption and that the Harry Potter spoiler fad is just a fun little joke. No. That's not how it works. When you put the jokes aside, you'll see the spoiler fad is pretty serious and can cause a lot of damage. If Max doesn't want to be an ass, he'll take down the spoilers, but he probably won't. Why? Probably because his users would hate him if he did, and they would claim some gay 'freedom of speech' thing, but mostly because he acts like the users. The users, for the most part, lack the same logic and reasoning skills Max does.
In the end, MAX IS NOT A REBEL, and TAKE DOWN THE FUCKING SPOILERS. Don't give a rat's ass about how much the users bitch; they need to be taught that jokes can only go so far.
And THAT'S why I think what Max is doing is a bunch of bull.
Is Wikipedia getting sued too because they're up there as well.
