User Pages - Some Ground Rules.

So I'll admit that while the site was off-line, our temporary page had a bit of a miscommunication. We said that you would have a user page, moderated by you. That means you have full moderation control over your page; you can edit your news, delete your news, delete the responses or even ban users from posting responses. However, user pages aren't a total free-for-all and we WILL be imposing some rules.

There are obvious things we will remove, such as writings, links and images of an illegal or racist nature. The rest is a bit of a gray area right now. You have a lot more freedom than you do on the forums - such as the ability to post really stupid comments / questions / observations that would result in a lock or ban on the elsewhere. However, we aren't interested in seeing pictures from your porn collection. Yeah, if it's something funny that you made, it will most likely slide - much like our threads on the art forum - but you should know the difference between "a funny drawing with boobs in it" and "oh look, a photograph of a vagina."

We'll be putting together some sort of "terms of use" for the user pages, but for now just use your head. If you don't think it would fly in one of our art contests, don't try to make it fly on your user page.

Oh, I see. So does Ross have big office space at the office? Or does he work in a cubicle?

I don't doubt all of you have worked hard on the redesign. It should be fantastic to see it when everything is completely complete!

The only real downside to user pages that I can think of, is that for obvious reasons, some users will have a plentiful number of visitors and comments, while some of us will have none at all.

Not really aa down side, but just looks like some of us will be a little bit , uh, unimportant.

And on the "site under construction" page you also said there would be no popups, AT ALL or something like that. Well Im telling you now since the redasign has launched ive still been getting popups. Ford popups mostly to be exact.

Good rules. So at least now no one can't put shock pics on their userpages, though I haven't seen it done yet. But this does eliminate the possibility. Thanks Tom.

Haha, I think it would have been better to just not say they were moderated by no one but you. If you didn't say anything, people would not post "illegal" stuff in fear of being watched. In my opinion.

Also, saving up money for Comic-Con. I really want to be able to make it, I would finally go somewhere this summer. :((((((((
