High Powered Comp or 42" Plasma 2007-07-21 21:21:56 Reply

The thing is I get 4k a semester in grants and scholarships for my schooling, and I end up with about 1,500 left, that goes into savings at the bank. So I ask you Newgrounds, I have 2k saved in the bank and I want to spend it on something, Build a nice High Powered computer or buy a 42" Plasma screen TV? I have done the math, I can get a 42" Plasma for 1200 and I can biuld a fucking sweet computer for 1500( Intel Celeron D 360 3.46GHz OEM, 2GB of Ram, and XFX GeForce 8500 GT 512MB PCIe) as basic Spec.

So What do I spend my money on?

If you are going to say Save it, I have been saving for this moment for 3 years now.

Also My Current Comp is a Gateway MX Series Laptop with a AMD 64-bit Turion mobile 1.8GHz, and 1GB of Ram. I also Plan to keep it for school Work.

No thanks if I did that, I would have to listen to the Red Cross Bitch and Moan saying that I need to help those people.

I think the idea of buying a third world country isn't to help the citizens, it's to use the citizens for your own profit.

1. Buy country
2. Enslave poor people
3. ???
4. Profit

NO NO NO NO!!!

First, get Intel Core 2 Duo, its the best. Get dual nVidia cards with sli and 2+ GBs of ram. Also get a freaking nice monitor and a massive, 10k rpm HD.

I would buy the Tv but then again thats probably because I don't have an HD tv yet. Only buy the Hi Powered comp if your a serious gamer or plan to store important files onto it.

Dude go with the pc. But FFS don't buy that one. Go to tigerdirect and build your own because that isn't worth it. You could save 300-400$ and get everything you want without being controled and slowed down because the company wants you to upgrade from them. Find a pc with 2 gigs of ram atleast if your not interested in building a pc.

Go with the computer. A plasma t.v. would be very nice, but how often do you watch television? If you have a lot of people at your house often, then maybe it would be a good idea though.

So, that is why I have come up with a second plan. You can buy the Plasma, and instead of buying a whole new PC for a good $800-$1000+ you can just upgrade your current one. I'd throw another gig of ram on it along with a better processor. A 2 ghz AMD Turion processor should be around $200. So, those two PC upgrades shouldn't cost more than $350 including installation fee(or whatever the hell you want to call it.) Unless you know how to do it by yourself.

Laptops are not very good choices for gaming. Thats Why I am building the Comp.

If you do not have HDTV Programming, or an upconverting DVD Player, or a Blu-Ray Player/HD-DVD Player, or an Xbox 360 or a Playstation 3, build the computer instead.

Ok, well in that case why are you going to get a 42"?? Maybe it's just me, but that's a tad big for a bedroom. Hry do whatever you want though.

Ah, ok. In that case... nevermind. I have no idea.

I guess it depends on some things. How nice your computer is now, and which one you spend more time with.

If your computer is already nice, get a tv. No use in spending more money when you've already got a fine one in front of you.

I have no idea what all the computer stuff you posted meant, so I don't know if your comp is good, decent, or bad. If your comp is bad, I'd get the computer. If it's great, I'd get the Plasma. If it's decent, I'd do eeny miney mo.

It is a fairly decent Laptop for non labor intinceive processes and not a good one for gaming, What I am planning on building has 3x the power(CPU) A Fairly Decent Video Card, and double the Ram(Good thing)

DEFINITELY go with the compy. You can get a badass 42" screen in a pawnshop for cheap, but a computer custom built to your tastes? That's practical AND pretty.
