Wow, I wish I had flash & was good at it. You should give out 5 bucks or something to everyone in the contest

I usually stay out of public contests, because there always 'seems' to be a bit of a biased attitude or unfair scoring. Like everyone else posting here, I don't understand how some won over others. However, I must deliver some trust to their final decision.

One thing I do agree with is having Ongaku being in the #1 spot. I know I voted 'Ongaku' a little bit low on Newgrounds, but I agree it was the best overall scoring Rhythm game that I looked at. I was glad 'Play This Game' made the list. It was really fun and creative.

Well anyways... congrats to the winners. Like I always tell people, I won a PS2 in a drawing contest (shortly after its release) and its time for someone else to win.

Ok enough talking... its time for them to send out the next contest!

I think CoolioDJ should have been in the winners for the 360. CoolioNiato is my fav Flash Artist.

Which sprites are those exactly? The flames (which were released by SNK under fair use principles, by the way) are the only sprites that weren't hand drawn.

This ain't a big gripe but that Arockalaps game We Are Legend uses sprites from a game he didn't make, this doesn't infringe on copyrights? Who owns the rights to sprites? I got nothing against that game but it crosses one of the rules provided. I think it sucks that we can't update anything because the size requiremnets have changed. It hurts the games and movies for this change.

I wish I was good at flash. ;_;

The problem with game contests, I fear, is that all entries suffer an attention drop because they have to share interest with the other entries. This is especially true when not only the theme, but the principle of the game itself, is the similarity between them.

If Capcom released twenty new Street Fighter titles RIGHT NOW, I doubt any one of them would benefite as much as a single title under the same conditions.

Here's to hoping the entries (the winning games especially) receive more attention over time!

Woah, thanks judge(s)! We didn't really expect to win anything for this game. Even though the judging is over, we're still going to update the game till it's to my liking, haha.

wow, I actually get something, I'm amazed I even got close to the top ten, there were so many classy original games in this comp. I can assure you the winnings will be funding my flash time :D

I would have one something, but did not because I started with a score of about 3.30 and ended up with 3.07.

Anywayzz I hope another Rock Out Competition (Rock Out-2008?) will ever happen. I would do a Wii-compatible game. Also, too bad non-USA residents win prizes, just cash. Oh, well. Cannot have everything, right?

And I am feeling sorry for Coolio. Come on, he deserved a top 10, are you guys mad at him because he made to many submissions, I thought i read in the contest rules that the author culd collect the number of the prizes, well that isnt true.

Hey everyone, please check out the end of Tom's post regarding the contest I'm currently in at Famecast! This is something we can all get behind, as the contest ends in the next 2 and a half hours and I could REALLY use the help! NG users can make or break this contest for me, so please don't hesistate to take the 2 minutes to register and vote!

BUT... I feel like an idiot, but I can't get the game to start. Am I missing something on the main menu? I checked ou the level select but nothing I click goes to the game... Man I feel stupid right now.

Hey Tom,

Yeah, I really have the feeling we got overlooked because we're not on the rock out page and we didn't get any exposure at all, even though Zombie-Pimp and I pulled off a pretty killer game if you ask me.

The game is started by clicking on the "select level" button and then using the up and down keys to navigate through the menu and space bar to make a selection to start one of the levels. I wanted to put that in later but flash messed up so therefore I put it in the comments.

I guess I'll also mention with all the spam my game got badly ignored. It's a pretty solid guitar simulation rhythm game that actually involves some skill and practice which I guess is why it can't even break 2 with the user base here as much as I softened it for the people. It's my first time working with Flash and while I'd like to make more I can't say I'm going to bother entering one of these again since it's not really worth the frustration.

Thanks for everyone's votes so far for me on Famecast! (see the end of tom's news post). There's an HOUR left to vote, and I could REALLY use it as I'm on 5th with the guy in 6th rapidly catching up, and I need to be in the top 5 to advance!
