Lol, not only is that really random, acting like that makes you a fantic nut, too. =P

Sorry about that I didn't realize I deleted the colons.

It's a quote from the first page.

i resent that dude, i'm heavy but i'm probably 10 times smarter than you

Hmm... Isn't over estimation of intelligence a sign of a lack there of?

:God dammit sorry if this ends up being a triple post.

Yes. I am noticing increase obesity, and thats not my problem. Im 16 years old and i just finished my last year of P.E. I hated it at my school in LA. Im very fit and i love sports but they have to change alot in PE They shouldnt make you run every day. Its should be fun and introduce you into new sports and getting outside is better, but once your a teen youve already developed your habits. I do not think its right in high school to make PE mandatory, because of coarse teen years and stress years and theres a lot more important things than sports.

I think that p.e. should be intensified and that the minimum requirments should be increased. For example at my school you can get a 12 minute mile and still pass which allows people to not put in all of their effort.

yes it should be mandatory but i think the problem with it is the choice, as a person nothing puts me off more then going out to play any sport its just so boring, give me an hour in the gym or the pool and i will jump at it, tell me that im gonna play footbal (soccer) then i will pretty much just switch off and not put any effort in.

well i honestly believe it should be mandatory, but i also believe you shouldn't get a grade for it tho. What about the weaklings *i myself even have to admit im a bit of a weakling*. Mostly i like playing for teh fun of the game, but if i dont kill myself playing, then ill fail gym and lose half a credit. Which totally sucks. Not to mention short guys *im also short* and they have to learn to play basketball. I mean honestly, what chance does a 4 foot 11 inches kid have against a 6 foot 5 inches kid?

The master plan is a plan made just so fast food, and other damn greedy people get their money at the expence of others. After all when I stopped eating fast food I lost wieght, and felt better too. But hard work for me is the farming lifestyle and stuff like that.

plus the master plan is all about getting money no matter what.

Agreed, and hauling hay bails is a great way to stay in shape. I used to be obeese (spelling?), but I sat down this last year and decided I didn't want to die of a heart attack. I droped from 210lbs to 175lbs. Still hate to run the mile timed though.

Kids should have some sort of Physical Activity every day, but not forced running or a (heaven forbid) rough sack march (I love JROTC), but get them interested in the activity. once they see how it's like to bbe in shape, they'll take care of themselves.

1. Direct Calorie burning for the day for students
2. More knowledge of sports and hopefully a greater appreciation of sports too.
3. Give kids time to unwind from public school. This isn't college so breaking kids away from the normal academic routine won't hurt them.
4. Teach kids knowledge of staying fit, healthy, and self discipline.
5. It has been proven that a person with a fit body perform better mentally when compared with someone of the same intelligence level.

I have DAILY P.E. at school, but there are a lot of fat people in my school still.

However there tend to be a lot more fat people in schools that don't have daily PE.

Soo yeah I agree.

Should P.E. be mandatory?

I get grades based on my effort in PE, not my speed/strength.

Which i'm not bad at anyway...

There are Different types of sports; some of are more beneficial then others.

- Aerobic [Gymnastics]
- Anaerobic [The 4000 meter dash, The marine training program]
- Passive [Golf; i forgot the real name, i call it passive]
- Extreme sports: [Snowboarding]
- Contact Sports [Baseball, Football, Etc.]

There are also non sporting activities called physical competitions such as weight lifting.

I live in Illinois, where physical activity is required every day, and I have to say it's a good idea to fight the problem.

Granted things like healthier cafeteria food and removing the vending machines would help more...

But honestly, should somebody really be unable to graduate from highschool if they don't take P.E. seriously? I think it should be optional.

Not only should p.e be mandatory, there needs to be more of it.
I'm thinking compulsory logs. Get those fat kids to bring home a pedometer and by the end of the week they have to clock a certain amount of steps.

PE should only be mandatory for fat kids. I see no reason I, a healthy student should suffer for the lardass sitting next to me.

If you dont want to, you shouldnt have to. School is for books and and mindfucking. P.E should be an elective and nothing more. America's a free country, so we should all have the freedom to have our bodies look the way we want them to, right? As far as being educated about your bodies and being healthy, thats what health class is for.

P.E. is important because some kids only get exercise when in a P.E class. I think P.E. should be a daily required class in elementary and middle school, but it should be an elective during high school.

Well yes, P.E. is key to a healthy school system. It's fun, it gives us exercise, and it's better than suffering braindamage from trigonometry problems.

The question there would have to be whether or not the students make their way to school, or get lifts from the parents every morning and only really do any walking between classes.

That's the problem in the UK - rather than walk half a mile to school they get a lift from their parents, causing local traffic jams while not giving the kids a minimum exercise every day, and with Health & Safety ruling out a lot of sports for fear of injury/lawsuits (or playing fields being sold for housing), even less exercise is available now than there was ten years ago.

Then again, the system at college was odd - sport was a free option: you could choose to have an hour's worth of sport per week, or have the hour to yourself. I just wonder if that was the option offered, how many kids would just bugger off to the chippie and funnel chips down their gullet...in comparison to the amount that do that at lunch and after school anyway.

I'm 12, and I know what's going on. McDonald's. Wendys. Burger King. All of these fast-food resteraunts use synthetic growth hormones on their cows in the slaughterhouse to fatten them up, so they can reach maximum patty potential. I would be okay with that, if the hormones weren't still in the burger I'm eating. Have you ever seen those lazy, liberal, fat kids who 89% of their diet starts with the words "May I take your order?" Where they walk halfway across the stage to get their diploma and are ot of breath when they reach the teacher? If their rotten physical condition isn't enough, they also have these "Bad Boy" attitudes. "I can't jog in place!" "My thighs hurt! (o.2 secs in a squat)" Or just "I won't do this. My mom/dad/brother/legal guardian/whoever can just give me their supersize company when I get older and I won't need to excersize! (forgive me for my retard spelling) P.E. needs to be not manddatory, but every other day. Tha may get the point across that, hey, maybe the coach isn't a tyrant or a racist guy, just someone who knows that you get fat cells when you are a child. When you are an adult, you can lose the fat but not the fat cells. This is why it is so hard to lose wieght and keep it off. I totally agree wth whoever said it should be mandatory for all the overweight inner-city kids. But I think everyone should have to do it. I think everyone with a certain paper they get from their doctor if they desperately need to lose weight should have to do it longer. I'm not sure if you can actually get all the kids to do it though. Like they say, you can lead a horse to water, you just can't make him drink.
