The outline of the sprites aren't all black, generally they ahev some other colours mixed in (e.g. a blue pokemon has some black outline, and some dark blue), and so to make it look better, you need to alter the non-black outline to fit in with the rest of the colour scheme.
Wing placement is literrally that, where you put the wings. They're a bit close together, so try playing around with them to make them as realistic as possible.
Copyflipping is when you copy a body part (in your case, the wing), and then paste it. It's not bad to do it, but often the shading (where light and dark falls on the part) is off, and makes it seem unrealistic. E.g. the lighting on the wing might be coming from the left, (therefore darker on the right), but coppyflipping means he shadng will be the wrong way round.
