I haven't slept today because of my Transformers collab piece. I'm liking the look of it, even if it is short.

I'm so damn tired right now, but I refuse to sleep till I complete all the character animation.. That way I just need to do the backgrounds tomorrow morning and afternoon.. I believe my time zone is ahead of Toms.. So I have more time then I really think I do..

I didn't realise these collaboration pieces were supposed to be humour based... I just went with a more homage/tribute approach. Oh well, I think it will still be alright.

My eye lids are damn heavy right now..

You know I really hate to side with Wonchop, mainly because I hate his unfunny tweencrap, but in some situations, like his movie, tweens are more suitable. You guys are acting like tweens are some pinnacle of the devil, but they're a tool. No sensible person animates entirely in fbf, it's time consuming and unnecessary so why do it? For a little respect? A lot of the people who watch these movies have absolutely no idea what goes into it, so tween or fbf, it makes no difference to the common viewer.

i just typed this whole thing on my wii...

Not to mention that since most of the new Transformers stuff (such as Energon, Cybertron and the movie) is done in 3D, it's technically all tweens anyway.

wrong.

lazy 3d animators do rely on the software to do all the work for them (like you), but good 3d animators do exactly what 2d (or what some call "frame-by-frame") animators do. pose-to-pose hand tweaked on 16's or 8's, then they break it down until it's all on 1's or 2's. Films like Ratatouille or Transformers - the one you mentioned - are completely void of "tweens".

Rtil's private jet is full of burly men in speedos, wearing boe-ties who serve pink girly drinks. Trust me, it could scare anyone.

Yeah, but they have a model to use. They don't have to redraw the model over and over again like 2D animators.

The tweens are a tool included in Flash that can make the process a lot faster and easier.

People have the rights to do their animations FBF or tweening, and no one should criticize them for the way they do it.

You do your animations the way you think is right for you and stop flaming people for using their own methods please.

End of story. Less mindless flaming and retardedness and more Transformers.

Interesting piece there, Cypo.

I read in wired that when they were rendering scenes with more than one transformer, individual frames could take up to 38 hours. them pros are patient.

cool piece cypo, your drawings are quite detailed.

That sort of banter isn't really adding much, either. :o

You guys spend way too much time paying attention to stuff you don't like and not enough time promoting stuff that you DO like. One or two or sentences out of however many posts that praises another users work gets lost in all the negativity.

Soooo....cool it, and enjoy the artwork you like. Quit harshing your mellow. Dude.

i think it wouldnt be quite fair to compare ratatoulle..which i think was worked on for 3 years to a small staff that had to crank out several hours of animation for one season of an animated tv show - sure the shows sucked i think, but I dont think I'd call em lazy..they were probably working in sweatshop conditions to get that all done on time

I only feel bad for those people since I know what that was like. haha

for the last time this isn't a personal attack. just because we normally don't get along and because I'm correcting you on a ligit point doesn't mean i'm on some horrid martyr quest to make you upset. listen to rtil's point about transformers. none of that is tweens. model or not all of that is being placed in framebyframe pose by pose, 16's, 8's, 4's, 2's, 1's.

ok so theres yet another point. hopefully no one will come after me for "wonchop harassment"

I hope that too.
The flaming just stopped and i think it's better this way.
This thread was to discuss the transformers collab and no other things.

Going back on topic, who do you think will take the prizes? I think theres a lot of competition and a big number of entries with real work and effort behind them.
I think that's what will make it a great collab.

In stuff like this, mods dont win prizes, but i'm guessing they will still be co-authored.
