Well, since we're in agreeance for most of your post, I'll just quickly comment on this.

Women are not treated equally as men. The only power they have is their sexuality, and honestly, most women are NOT willing to go that route in order to get what they want. To say that women and men are equal, well, it's simply ignorance on your part. I used to think like you, so I understand that ignorance, but after taking a class that discussed feministic viewpoints and issues, it completely opened my eyes to the constant issues women face, including men believing that they are on a level playing field.

Men are in ALL the higher positions. Very few women break the glass ceiling, and most of the women who DO break the glass ceilings are celebrities of sorts, and again, they are mostly there because of their sex appeal, and less there because of their actual ability.

If a man and a woman have equal resumes, and there is no physical comparison available, the man will be chosen way more times than the woman is chosen.

Again, unfortunate, but it's the world we live in. Women are a long way from being at the same level as men are, playing field wise. As more people get educated on the issues women face, hopefully that playing field will level out.

I am saying it did happen. Never did I say it did not. Nor is life going to be fair.

There's a reason why they have no money, and although I agree with you to a point about having kids too soon, again, white girls have kids too soon as well, and they make it through because they have the financial backing of their parents to get them through it. When your ancestors were working their asses off in America, for basically no capital, just food, and shelter, they have nothing to hand down, and the cycle continues.

Those girls however slowly and will bring their family closer to the poverty zone. It's just more hardwork. As long as a family constantly strives to do better, they will. After 3 generations of working for nothing (just to get out of indentured servitude), my family payed its debts and continued to be hardworking. It just takes time.

The advantage, as much as I hate to say it, you and your family had was the fact that you are white. You had more opportunities inherently available to you than a person of different colour with the same gross income. You could have equal qualifications as a poor black person, and chances are, you would get the job over the black/hispanic person in poverty, based solely on racial stereotypes.

More initial opprotunities, no. Nowadays, blacks do have the same amount. All IB students from Wilson, School 58 and the big schools in the black part of town acquired fully paid scholarships to the University of Rochester, as long as them kept their grades up. There are more scholarships that only a colored person can get as well. There are special laws within the city that support poor families and welfare to help blacks get out of poverty. Hard work is the only fuel you need to make it happen.

I've seen it so many times, I don't see how you can claim that every race is on an equal playing field. As unfortunate as it is, it's how society is, especially in lower level slums, and what not.

Every race is on the same playing field because we all have the pontential to achieve great things. We all can walk outside and look at the stars and reach for them. Humans are a beautiful, bunch of creatures. I believe this whole heartedly and as part of my religion.

The "N" word wasn't always used to blacks. Its not like the word just came out of no where during slavery. Its been around before black slavery. Women have not been treated equally because it was never a past factor. The role within the houseold was a job that need to be done in order to make sure the family survived. Now today that is not a mandatory job that needs to be done. Due to ths women come into shoes they need to fill by becoming people. Most women I know will not have sex for power, but will tease it. A sucessful person to point knows about all their strengths.

I am somewhat ignorant to a degree, because I will never be a women and the fact that in the community there is rarley a time for such the fantastic discussion we have been having. Women face issues and so do men. Life will not be fair but everyone has a chance to perservere and become better.

Not all higher positions. A majority, yes. More opprotunities are still availible such as the new gender laws. Plus anti-men workplaces that hire mostly women and men who aren't threats are becoming popular.
