I love being Agnostic at these times...
Is it a coincidence he didn't say this on Monday or Tuesday?

Now what you do is take the crackpot and have him strapped to a chair while a professor teaches him on the science of earthquakes and floods.

We are in serious moral trouble because every type of lifestyle is now regarded as legitimate," he said.
It seems like all Christians are just homophobes trying to cover it up because God says gay people aren't meant to be... If they weren't meant to be, why did he (supposedly) make them?

Isn't that why they invented Satan?
Anyways, it is better simply to ignore that sort of idiot and not give him signifcant attention. no, he is not correct. He is not worth talking about, period.

This is the kind of prejudice that should not be accepted in the BBS. (Yeah, 'cause I'm one to talk...) Gays are people too!

I think Jerry Falwell had the same sort of opinion. I think he thought the WTC was destroyed because "AMERICA HARBORS GAYZ LOLOLOL" or something like that.

But, Memorize, what if it's not in the bible? I thought science was pure lunacy; I mean, after all, scientists keep talking about this evolution stuff with the same sort of rational evidence they use to estimate how earthquakes and floods happen, why should you believe anything they say? Gravity is really only because God yawned really loud one time, right? </sarcasm>
But yeah, I expected this sort of thing from peeps like Jerry Falwell, but the Church of England? I thought England was supposed to be more religiously progresssive. :(
He's a bishop, he has the respect of lots of people, and as an obvious far-Christian, he will say these things. The way I see it, it's unacceptable because I personally think that good old Christian values aren't cutting it anymore. It's okay to believe in a God, I myself have no idea what's going on, but I've no problem that someone believes in God. However, blaming an alternative lifestyle for a natural phenomena is a bit far in my opinion, especially since the lifestyle is pretty much acceptable now.
There are a few passages in the Bible that do say some pretty nasty remarks about homosexuality (or however it's actually put) but then the Bible also wants everyone to love each other. It's more than a little sketchy at some points. I don't think that makes it right for these kind of remarks, but obviously bishops will have a different opinion: it is the "Word of God" after all.

The only passages against homosexuality come from the old testiment. A book that also says incest is fine and you should be stoned to death for dishonouring your father. Real christians read the new testiment.

The new testament has passages against gays as well. Also, women aren't supposed to cut their hair, or ask questions during a sermon, dammit!

This is exactly on the same level of stupidity as the Ancient Hindus who blamed the lack of sacrificing virgins for the drought of the river Ganges or something like that. I thought we lived in the 21st century for fuck's sake.

It has one that can be incorrectly interpreted as being against homosexuality from what I understand. If only I could remember which one, maybe it was in a letter from Peter or something.

Though it was sarcasm, I do not deny evolution at all, or the age of the earth being millions of years.
People say that earth is 6,000 years old (or however long) because of "1st day, 2nd day, 3rd day". But they skip over the part that comes before that where it says (and i'm quoting it directly this time, Drakim) "God created the Heaven and the earth, and the earth was without form and void". Who's to say he started with earth at the very time he created Heaven, eh?

Correct. I think Peter rambles on a letter about how "effeminates" wouldn't enter the Kingdom of Heaven or something.
But, and even though this is off-topic, does "effeminate" necessarily translate as "gay"? It could mean anything from "pansies" to "post-op trannies" to "the French". Plus, Jesus said rich people had pretty much zilch chance of entering Heaven, and, I mean, could perhaps Jesus have a *little* more authority on this "who enters heaven" deal than Peter? And, since there's common consensus nowadays that rich people can after all enter heaven, maybe all these passages weren't rigid rules on heaven admission as much as a general set of guidelines.
I guess.
But, one way or another, this priest claiming that gays are to blame for floods and earthquakes is totally insane, out of touch with reality, utterly intolerant and also covering up for the actual perpetrators.

Good point. :) Maybe I'll point that out the next time somebody tells me the earth is so young that humans would have been around at the same time as dinosaurs.

Pfft, British people are so religious and zealous, fucking bigots... that article means all of the UK is a closed minded, intolerant, cesspool of hatred.
Yes, this single article describing the views of just a few Bishops can be extrapolated and applied to every inhabitant of the UK. Because after all, such talk never takes place in any other country. This single article can be exploited to our hearts content to create out-of-context political ammunition against Brits like they would NEVER do to us in any related or similar subject.
Yay, Obama won. Let's thank his supporters:

-Black Panthers for their intimidation of voters.

I don't even pay attention to all the bullshit that comes out of the Catholic Church these days.

Also that the bible lists a huge amount of people who were decendant of Adam and Even until Abraham. Including how long they lived and who was born of who. Moses lived something like 600 years, his son 550, his son 470, and etc.
Faith tramples all reason, logic, and common sense.

Yes, that too.
I'm just saying that I don't know how much time passed. If God decided to take 6 days to create life on earth. Who knows how long it took to create the universe, right? And how to make everything in it work the way it does.

if he wants people to turn away from a life of greed let's see him quit free loading and start working for a living, and doing the sermons free of charge as a good grace. you look at the religion now and over history and you see a bunch of hypocrites.

It's all a part of your mind; It's not innacurate to say that Everything that you find interesting is dictated by Things occuring in the brain, including the need to Get yourself into a woman's buisness.
For some individuals the needs are different.
I dont like calling myself christian because of these people; hence, i am neither agnostic nor atheist nor christian, i am spiritualist!
We dont have any Prejudicial doctrines in the realm of spiritualism; our only flaw is that spiritualism is a haven for Scamers pretending to be physic mediums.
On a moving train there are no centrists, only radicals and reactionaries.
