Ban on fireworks! No way!!! 2007-06-28 16:03:02 Reply

Currently the NFPA (National fire protection agency) is making movements to try to ban consumer fireworks. I think this is just bullshit. They are using statistics of child injuries of fireworks as their weapon however a child is more likely to hurt themself with a fucking pencil than a firework. So LETS BAN PENCILS AS WELL!!!!!!!!!

I joined the fireworks alliance to stop the movement.

What makes me pissed is that they are using a child's death to get to people. A young boy was killed last year because he was sruck with a consumer firework. However I find to be bullshit because the family or somebody else didn't follow the safety instruction correctly and that resulted in the child's death. No offense to the family but banning fireowkrs is not the answer.

I do not want to see fireworks be banned because it ruins the 4th of July and will displease many americans. I enjoy fireworks and Im also almost 18 so I will be able to buy them myself. Me and my family follow the safety instructions and make sure nobody gets hurt.

I don't understand. If you aren't allowed to buy fireworks at under the age of 18 anyway, then why ban them?

A responsible adult would keep the fireworks out of children's reach. So I would actually blame the adults in the first place.

No, fireworks should not be banned. Anything that involves fire or even electricity (therefore including the possibility of electrical fire) is going to have its own set of accidents; responsible parenting is more important if you want to prevent those sort of accidents.

We've been dealing with these bans in fucking Jersey for as long as I can remember.

Just because you use fireworks responsibly dosen't mean a bunch of idiots can't ruin it for you.

Are you guys so lazy you can't just drive to your state border and get some? When fireworks were illegal in my state, we'd just drive to the Indiana border and get 'em by the ton at a huge warehouse.

We still have them, but they cannot be sold in portable buildings anymore, like stands by the road. It was to be a permanent building. hmmm....

Well that's a weird law. I wonder how that came to be.

I saw this on the tube abot 3 days ago, and they are really milking the story of the dead kid.

honestly i don't think fireworks are ever the problem in these situations, I think it is stupidity with them. I mean, you light the fuse and back away, you would think only a complete moron could misunderstand that.

Plus I wouldn't be surprised if that family is going for a lawsuit, not banning it entirely.

if your incompitent enough and not mature enough and not responcible enough to use fireworks without harming yourself and others; then your just going to find something else to use destructively.

People arn't exclusively careless with one thing over another, these ban laws are useless, all you can do is make things designed safer if they physically cant be used safely in they're present state, but are still used.

Good. I'm all for it. Go to a hospital on the fourth of July and take a visit around the Emergency ward. Trust me, the smell of burnt flesh will follow you for a few days. I see absolutely no reason for a huge increase in fires, injuries, and fatalities, so that people can enjoy some pretty lights. Ridiculous.

The ban is stupid!

Honestly just because one dumb kid without parental supervision blows him self up, doesn't mean we all have to pay for his stupidity. Than we have the fire department always bitching about all the fires. Look, people will still buy fireworks illegally and there will still be fires! Not only that, the cops will be spending more time busting kids with fireworks than busting dealers with crack. Way to waste time and money!

The liberal government cares more about protecting bears from us, than protecting us from bears. Not to mention they could care less for reducing property taxes.

Bears are important, the only way to stop people in new jersey from bear attacks is to kill everyone in new jersey and give the bears their land back

Seacrest, out.

That's usually how most bans start out; one mentally deficient member of society decides to misuse a common resource, and fucks it up for the rest of us.

Than we have the fire department always bitching about all the fires.

It's a public safety hazard in some areas. Right now, here in Tennessee we're about 9 inches below the norm for rainfall this year. You can't walk anywhere without crunching dry, brown grass. One stray spark and you'll have a situation like what's going on in the East coast right now.

Hell, the town of Shellbyville (outside of Nashville) decided to not have their fourth of july fireworks display at all this year, because in addition to the dry conditions statewide, there's a lumber mill right on the other side of the park where they'd normally be firing off the works.

Way to waste time and money!

God forbid if one miscreant pre-teen should be deprived of his right to blow up a mailbox.

Fuck No. Thats a federal offense.

I used to blow up Garden Gnomes.

Then they banned fireworks in Massachusetts.

So I got to Pennslyvania to get the good fireworks to blow up Gnomes.

Ultimately, if someone wants to see explosions bad enough on the 4th, they'll just go get some gasoline and go to town.

Gasoline, Kerocene and Lighter Fluid mixed in a a water bottle with a core of protected gunpowder(usually a plastic bag works just make sure to get rid of all the air in it) with a wick at the top through a whole on the cap.

That thing beats cherry bombs.

In terms of destructive power, I bet. But if you just want to scare some people, fill a balloon with a 50/50 mix of welder's acetalyne and oxygen, then set it off with a fuse. It'll sound like a damn lightning strike going off.

Even if fireworks are banned. I'm sure plenty of people will start to smuggle in fireworks.

The state of Florida where I live in supposedly doesn't allow any of the "good fireworks" that explode up in the air and spread out, but that does not stop people from buying fireworks from out of state and bringing it back with them and lighting the fireworks off.

A nationwide ban will not stop me or any other people determined enough to really light it up this 4th of July.

By the way, that dumb little shit wouldn't have been killed had he had some common sense.
If anything it was the parents fault for not supervising or teaching their kid fireworks safety.

Apparently his parents didn't learn their lesson, pity.

Its the reason theres a big ass warning on them. Dumbass parents shouldnt buy them if theres a risk that their kids will get unsupervised access to them.

This is the dumbest thing since people starting reading tabloids.

someone dies because their parents fail at life and are fucking pathetic, and now will probably try to sue the company that made the fireworks and probably the guy who sold them the fireworks in order to have it easy the the rest of their failed lives.

If you wanna ban something, bam morons from having children.

That was a statement out of ignorance. You must live in a city of dumbasses if the "hospital smells of burning flesh." I live in wisconsin and people around my city light off arieal fireworks all the time. Including shells and huge ass cakes(multi-shot arieals). There has not been an injury for ten years and the injury was minor burns. Remember what I said, a kid is more likely to harm himself with a pencil than a firework.
