I suppose it's just that they are a source of some really hard rock. Now I know there are plenty of others that can say the same, but I think it's just that they have a few hits that everyone has heard about, just like the aforementioned "Sweet Child O' Mine" . Also, it might just be relief that they didn't go into techno, like Axl wanted to.

Meh, if you don't like GnR, then you simply don't like them. I do like their music (well, I only have their first album so far) and won't try and convince you to like them or anything.

Yeah, you're right about that. Except it wasn't "Substitute". It was definitally "Happy Jack". But yeah, I remember reading about that. How Keith was banned from singing. I guess that's why he made a solo album. Heh. Pretty funny.

What do yall think is Metallica's best album? Cause me personally i think the Black Album is one of their best that they put out.

Well in any case Metallica is still a classic rock band even though they do have some pretty hardcore metal songs. But the Black Album is more of the classic rock stuff from them though.

I wouldn't call Metallica classic rock. They hated the classic rock bands that were playing the Sunset Strip in the 80's (Motley Crue, GnR, etc). They're thrash metal, I don't know where you got classic rock from. The Black album is hard rock, not classic rock either.

Well then that was a mistake on my part. Cause to me they are classic rock cause they have been around for so long.

Wow man, sorry to keep puttin' you down and stuff, but just cause they've been around for a while doesn't mean that they are part of the genre that was around when they were around. If that makes sense. For example, there were some punk rock bands that were around during the classic rock era. Does that make The Ramones classic rock? No, it doesn't.

Hence why I decided to leave out a bunch of metal artists on my list that might be considered classic rock.

Regardless of how long they've been around, I don't see them as a "classic rock" band, but rather a thrash metal band. Putting them in the same category as Queen, Led Zeppelin and others doesn't seem right.

No, it isn't right to lump them in with the likes of Queen etc. They do not sound anything like these aforementioned bands, since they are in their own sub-genre, completely separate.

Hey. Jeeze it seems like we only have about 3 regulars in the crew. Not good guys ;)
But anyways, I've made a classic rock forum! It's almost completed and it just started today! It's called Classic Rock 0. It's really looking good with 5 members in one day. Of course, most of them are from my old forum. But whatever, I like it. Started out from scratch, and made this one hell of a site in my eyes.

My thought exactly and that's why I won't ever call them a "classic rock" band.

Also, after playing on Guitar Hero III, I now want to get into Cream. I'll want to get the album Disraeli Gears, which contains Sunshine of Your Love, but I'd like to hear recommendations on any other albums of theirs that are a must get!

Amen to that! I never listen to the ARIA charts anymore- the Pop music these days has just deteriorated so much. It's all R 'n' B and rap, and if not, it's a damn washed-up ex-Australian Idol contestant. Or even worse- Britney Spears.

Rock in my opinion is classic rock. Think about it. They have been out longer than all that gay-ass rap and hip hop and all that shit. Rock is better than any genre :)

Classic Rock is more or less a subgenre of Rock that applies IMO to rock music created by bands who "glory years" as such were in between the years of about 1965-1990. And not all rap and hip-hop is gay, and a lot it is older than some of the bands you mentioned.

I hate the black album. They started sucking after And justice for all. But my favorite album by them is probably Ride the Lightning. It doesn´t have a bad track on it, and some really awesome ones that stand out, For whom the bell tolls, Fade to black, and the title track.

Anybody get to see Journey or Boston lately? I've heard they're touring, but they have new singers, and you need a pretty good vocalist to cover that kind of material. Foreigner has a new singer too, and he wasn't all that bad.

I'll admit. I do kinda like some of Tupac's stuff. He was a great man and a great artist.
