I kno0w what you mean recantly I have been into 80's pop rock like Phil Collins I seem to be adicted to.

Well i could feel that coming in the air......(sorry for the lame Phil Collins reference) Also i don't care how people keep saying the Rolling stones sold out and stuff. You gotta admit there early work was very good and paved the way for most of the bands from the 70's.

Oh yeah The Rolling Stones did a lot of good stuff. And to me "Selling Out" has always been a bad excuse for people who get mad when a band starts to make money.

Yeah, this isn't going anywhere.

Sooooo, a question. Who did the original version of "House of the rising sun"? I know the Animals did it, but I don't think that they originally wrote it.

And if you do know, which version do you think is the best?

NEED A SIG?.

They didn't, it is actually an old American folk song, no-one actually knows who wrote it.

And if you do know, which version do you think is the best?

Is there any version other than The Animals?

Anyways, my favourites list.

Dire Straits (Number one favourite of all time)
Steppenwolf
The Yardbirds (The most important band in rock history)
Status Quo
The Who
Pete Townshend
Deep Purple (Normally the more organ driven songs)
Peter Frampton

To name a few......

This sounds like my kinda club. I'd like to join.

My top 3 for this genre are as follows(beware, they change like the wind):
1. Jimi Hendrix (need i explain more?) Fav Hendrix Song (tough one): "Gypsy Eyes"
2. Led Zeppelin (godly) Fav Zep song: "Hey Hey waht can i do"
3. Deep Purple (they created some the most recognisable music ever) Fav Deep P song: "Black Knight"

I like a lot more, but those are my favourite classic rock bands/artists at the moment. Rock on.

Well if you like Southern Rock a lot then you would probably like The Allman Brothers Band. And my friends love The Police I like the little bit of reggae they had in their songs. I think The Police are going on tour soon.

No I read in a Best Buy Ad that they were giving away tickets for their show. It also said in Wikipedia that they "reunited in early 2007 with the announcement that they are undertaking a huge, international world tour dubbed The Police Reunion Tour from the middle of that year on until early 2008, in celebration of the 30th anniversary of their hit single "Roxanne" and also, to a lesser extent, that of their formation as a group." Here is another Wikipedia article about their reunion tour.

Yeah I've heard of the Allman brothers band, I think I might have one of their cds somewhere. It's hard to keep track.

Black sabbath may be heavy metal but there also just an all around good rock band. My favorite Black sabbath song would probably be sabbath bloody sabbath.

For some reason, I don't like that song. It doesn't appeal to me. And Sabbath was more hard rock than metal, they just influenced pretty much all metal.

I'm not a big fan of Black Sabbath, don't get me wrong though. They're good I just don't care for them. I just like softer rock. On a different note I just heard Peter Frampton's "Do you feel like we do?" I swear he made that guitar talk. Frampton's obviously one of the best guitar players I've ever heard.
