Gah, I haven't heard back from the people that asked me my range. I sent the email to them 2 or 3 days ago. I'm hoping the will get back to me soon, I'm getting annoyed.

Go on any of the games, and chances are he'll be in one of the chat rooms on the right.

What sponsor is it? Also, do sponsors give bonuses if the game gets frontpage or something like that? How much would Alien Hominid be worth?

Well wasn't that a couple years ago? plus just look at all the games they sponsor and they just can't reject some one just because of what he had did in the past.

Apparently, it occurred in February... That is pretty bad that he did that - a well, trusted and known sponsor...

Wow, that was big news back when it happened in February, now its old news. Just to let you know, only one co-owner of AG was involved (none of the rest of the team was).

Just wanted to note the AG, nor any other of the big sponsors would probably want to sponsor your first game anyways, unless it's REALLY good.

Hehe, yeah me too.. ^^ I'm not even sure if I will be able to finish my other game in time for the contest, so we will most likely have to try to get our game sponsored later on when it's finished.

I just made my last day at my summer job today though, so if I only get into the flash-making-mood I have time :)

I'm wondering is okay if someone kinda trick your sponsor?
like lets say there is a sponsor S1 another one called S2 could you ask bot sponser what they are willing to give you ? and if so could you say to S1 who is offering you $100 that S2 is offering $200?

If S2 really has given that offer, then I would definitely say that it's ok. I mean, no one can blame you for wanting to get as much as possible for your flash and using sponsors offers to pressure another one is how you do that.

You could of course take the chance and say that you have offers that you really don't. Sponsors, from my experience, usually don't require you to prove the offers really exist so you could easily get away with it. I would not recommend doing that though, if the sponsor does not want to raise his offer you've probably lost the chance to get anything from him. Even worse though is that it's dishonest, flash authors want to be sure they can trust the sponsors and it's only fair that they can trust us as well.

Of course this is my opinions, but I think that they are similar to what most people think.

Well thanks that really clears things up i wouldn't really advise someone to lie as you mentioned it wouldn't be fair I always thought not to control the sponsor to much but as someone said before if you don't feel uncomfortable with a sponsor's offer you should put your foot down.

lol, reclame?

Anyway, great thread idea.
This will probably help many in doubt.
Also, maybe you should consider making a single web page for all the information or something so people doesn't have to look through all pages (atm 3 :P) in search of the right sponsor for their game.

cheers.

That's a good idea :) I don't have a webhost though but I'm planning on getting one soon. If people continue to contribute with reviews I will probably be able to make something.

Thanks for the bump ;)

Please do this, I read through the whole thread and learnt some really good stuff, which is really useful info, but I reckon some people will miss out in their laziness =(

I have a question...

When you do get sponsored, who's place is it to talk about your money.
A lot of people are very hushhush about the money they have received for certain games, is that because the sponsorships have told them not to talk about it, or is it just them?

I have no idea why it's so secret.. I don't think that someone will come and rob you if you say that you got $500 from a sponsorship and the only good reason I can come up with to keep quiet about the amount is that you're afraid of that. I've only gotten two sponsorship from two sponsors, none of them said anything about keeping anything secret but I guess there could be sponsors that do.. dunno..

Sorry I have no reviews as I havnt had anything sponsored. Just wanted to say that this is a brilliant idea, gathering up loads (ok, the few that have been posted so far) of reviews on sponsors. Its interesting to see how much different websites are willing to pay out for certain games.

Legitgames.com +++

The game sponsored was Orblisk.
I sent out e-mails to alot of different sponsors and he was the first to reply and showed a keen interest in my game. He made an intial offer of $150 which I negotiatied to $200. He simply asked I included a logo on my preloader, a 5 second intro including the logo and the logo on the game menu, all linking to his website. I also added a "Play More Games" button linking to his site. He replied very fast, and I received payment within one hour of agreeing on a price.

Seriousness ++++
Kyle was very professional, and only asked for a few changes and was willing to negotiate the price.

Money ++++
Orginally he offered $150 but I negotiated to $200. I believe this is very good payment for the quality of the game, which is currently scoring 3.28/5.00 here on NG.

Efficiency ++
Very fast and reliable, all E-mails were replied to within 10 minutes, and I received payment within 1 hour of confirmation of the price.

Social +++
He seemed friendly, and was willing to negotiate.

I personally recommend highly.

Thank you for the review flash-man04 :)

So, I have been thinking more of the idea to write some sort of summary of this thread. I have now given up on making myself a site, I can't concentrate on that since I rather spend my time doing flash ^_^
So I have I hired a friend to do one for me and once it is done I will add a section for stuff like this :)

Hopefully people will start writing reviews more frequently as they will hopefully be a resource for anybody who's getting their game sponsored :)

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention in my previous post. Could you also leave links to the pages on the website's that state how they sponsor, who to contact and what they offer?

Would be helpful when trying to get in contact with them.

That would of course be good for further reviews, I'm not sure that anybody will think of it though but I will make sure to get that information when I set up the summaries on my site :)

Finding contact information is usually pretty simple though, just look for the word 'contact', 'sponsor' or similar in the menus on the top and the bottom of the site and you will most likely find the information you're looking for.
