So you sent him a game, he used it and didn't get paid? Couldn't you sue?

Maybe, if I hadn't of stupidly deleted the email that sealed the deal of him paying me.

You could have got it sponsored by a different site, perhaps?
Never forget...

ok, there have been alot of reviews here, but I was wondering if someone who has been sponsored many times could make a "guide to sponsorship" thing, where you give some steps which may help when it comes to earning more money, etc.
Thanks ALOT if anyone makes this.

Well, if you wanna earn more money, you have to be good at negotiating and you can pressure them by saying that a lot of other sponsors are willing to pay more :P. Anyway, thanks a lot for this thread, it's been really helpful, I had never heard of HallPass before and will probably send them an email when we have something to show!

Usually with sponship for me, I get it sponsored and right after get an offer for 750-1000 right after I got sponsored for a lot less, but anyways, Ill just do dumpgames.com since nobodies done them yet: Dumpgames.com -Great for smaller games, payed RIGHT away, and the owners a cool guy :P One of the lesser known ones, but suggested for smaller games.

How do I contact Dumpgames about sponsorship? Contact->the subject would be sponsorship or something? I've never been there before but I've heard of the site.

For those sponsors who aren't trusted, couldn't you set-up a text file on a website and when a certain variable is true, the game is playable, and otherwise it's not, and test to see if they are actually worth it?
These new signatures can suck on mah balls. My lolis don't fit in. Lol wut what are you guys still doing on NG, move on.

Well, I know that, but I wanted a more of a "tutorial". Like what you say when contacting, how you should argue, etc. And I would like to know this from someone who has been sponsored before :p
Thanks anyways.

Woh, stupid time zones.. My threads always tend to really get going while I'm asleep :P Keep the reviews coming, and big thanks to you who has contributed so far!
I don't have time to go through the all the replies now but I will hopefully be able to answer eventual questions later.

legit games sounds leet!
And for Swash, well, thats just harsh.
Anyway, I hope you guys know that whatever you say could have a large inpact on the success of sponsors as the popularity of this thread grows.
Be careful what you say :)

When applying for a sponsorship, one has to:
- Write a polite and formal email; no abbreviations or IM talk. Note: Formal Does Not Mean Capitalising Every Single Word.
EVERYONE ADD TO THE LIST!! :D

Put your foot down! If the sponsor is pushing you in to an option your not comfortable with, such as price or rights; you come first!

Thanks guys, that was the type of things I wanted to know...keep em' coming :)

When applying for a sponsorship, one has to: Be sure everything they need to know is in there. EXAMPLE: Email address, link to a preview, your name, etc, etc, etc. Remember to re-read your letter before you send it, there's nothing like leaving everything out.
How long does it take for Dumpgames to email me back? I contacted them around 7 hours ago, does it take longer than that? Thanks.

When applying for a sponsorship, one has to: -Make sure that your game(/movie) is as finished as possible. Getting rid of glitches and such before sending it to the sponsors will probably give you higher offers, and most sponsors don't like that people sends them betas and asks "How much do you think it will be worth when it's finished? Keep in mind that I will add these features: .." . -Don't take a offer directly if you know you might get a better deal somewhere else. You might be tempted to take a decent offer just so that you finally can submit the game that you worked for three months on to NG, but when you have worked on it for such a long time you can just as well wait a few more days.
Bump :)

Should one brand the flash with a sample or demo watermark just incase said sponsor decides to steal ones work?
bump

I personally don't do this, but it might very well be a good idea. If you're only applying for sponsorship at the bigger sponsors like Armor Games and Crazy Monkey Games you shouldn't worry much about the game being stolen, but if there's people(not just sponsors) who you're not sure if you can trust that is able to play your game you should certainly consider watermarking.
Before Pacman Platform 2 got sponsored I put it on Deviantart so that I could link the sponsors there, I guess I was lucky that nobody else decompiled it and claimed authorship of it. Now I wouldn't do that though.

well when LegitGames sponsored me i gave them a demo with loads of little anti-steal things.... but the guy didnt even try to steal them so i would say legitgames is 100% safe =)

Ok ty, We'll probably put some watermarks though, just to be sure it won't get stolen.

Dumpgames never responded and it's been around 3 days. Do they not like me? I hope they respond soon.

Since stealing a game would cause massive damage on a sponsor's reputation I don't think that Hallpass would since they are pretty well known. Don't know about LegitGames, you will have to trust MooseIsLoose on that one.

This thread hasn't really been going as good as I had hoped. I might write in this thread in the future when I get sponsored, but until then this will probably be my last bump =/

I got a reply from Kongregate.com, they said "What kind of range did you guys have in mind?"
Does that mean anything? I'm really anxious for another reply from them, I told them what I thought would be good.

Well, they are definitely interested but it's impossible to tell how much that interest could be worth.. Remember not to fall for the first good offer you get, from my experience with sponsors I can tell that you are often surprised how much your game can be worth :)

Awesome thread, Im surprised more people havent given good lengthy reviews, loads of people here must have thier games sponsered.
I will definatly use this once I release the game im working on, and write a review of whoever I choose.

Thanks :) I myself would find it very useful with a thread like this when applying for sponsorship, and since there isn't one really like this(as far as I know at least) I made it. I think that more people would find this useful as well if we would just be able to get some more reviews. I appreciate your support :)
